One-hundred-forty-one people are paid more than a $100,000 per year in the Obama White House, according to the 2011 White House salary report released Friday. Another 201 people on the staff of 454 have compensation ranging from $50,000 to $100,000.
That's a jump from the final year of President George W. Bush's administration when 130 people received more than $100,000, and 137 people were paid between $50,000 and $100,000.
The pay is good, especially when those staffers help govern a country with a stalled economy with a 9.1 percent unemployment rate, deficit spending and a debt of at least $14 trillion.
But it is far less than what most of the employees graduate to when they move to civil service jobs — complete with a bump-up for local cost-of-living — or to lobbying firms on K Street.
Neither Obama nor Vice President Joe Biden are part of the payroll.

Well, Methuselah, we have paid out the ying yang since your Messiah took the Presidency, but all we have gotten for our dough is socialist tax cheats who never ran their own business, lived off of comission, met a payroll, or could find their collective asses with both hands. Dad always said before someone was worth 100K a year he had to be worth 10K first.

We have most definately NOT gotten what WE have paid for, but we sure got what ignorant louts voted for in November 2008.

I think that's it exactly, Soap. For some reason, certain people have trouble admitting their mistakes. Or admitting when someone makes a fool out of them. As if it's a sign of weakness, or something silly like that.

I guess I was raised differently. I believe it goes directly to a person's integrity and credibility. I think that being able to admit one's mistakes is a sign of strength - not a weakness. I have much more respect for an idiot that admits he's an idiot and is working to correct it than I have for someone who refuses to admit it and keeps hiding from the truth that is so evident to others.

I've made plenty of mistakes in my life and have found it easier to admit them and get them behind me. As the saying goes, crow is much better eaten when warm. Or, in the case of waiting too long and it no longer being warm, maybe soaking the crow in enough whiskey might make it more palatable.

Maybe one of these days Oldtimer can get enough whiskey swilled to come back and admit his mistake and once again join the discussions. I hope that he does, because I actually miss reading his thoughts. Even though I rarely agreed with him after he took his left turn, I still found his posts to be interesting and thought-provoking. Hypocrit-- to be Fair and Balanced- would you tell us what each of those folks job is- and their education- and experience...

The last I saw was that the Washington D.C. area was the 8th highest cost of living city/area in the country...

Makes you wonder how much that really is---when you have local school administration, truck drivers, construction workers and railroad workers- to name a few- making $100,000 to $200,000 a year.. :???:
