I hope nobody is condoning being disrespectful to the President. I thought he had a reputation for expressing concern over people's family members in many different circumstances? There was no reason to politicize it. This just shows the lengths to which the dems are willing to go for politics.

By the way, I wonder if a Republican would be getting by with this kind of misappropriation of government property:

He wore his son's buff-colored desert boots....

Texan, you are just wrong on that account. This was a news article, not something put out by Webb's campaign.

Here are the reasons Jim Webb can wear ANY military boots he wants:

* Jim Webb was first in his class of 243 at the Marine Corps Officer’s Basic School in Quantico, Virginia.
* Jim Webb served with the Fifth Marine Regiment in Vietnam as a rifle platoon and company commander in the infamous An Hoa Basin west of Danang.
* Jim Webb was awarded the Navy Cross, the Silver Star Medal, two Bronze Star Medals and two Purple Hearts while fighting in Vietnam.
* Jim Webb served as a platoon commander and as an instructor in tactics and weapons at Marine Corps Officer Candidates School.
* Jim Webb served in the US Congress as counsel to the House Committee on Veterans Affairs from 1977 to 1981, becoming the first Vietnam veteran to serve as a full committee counsel in the Congress.
* In 1982, Jim Webb first proposed, then led the fight for including an African American soldier in the memorial statue that now graces the Vietnam Veterans memorial on the National Mall.
* In 1984, Jim Webb was appointed the inaugural Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs, where he traveled extensively in, and worked closely with, our NATO allies. As Assistant Secretary, Webb directed considerable research and analysis of the U.S. military’s mobilization capabilities.
* In 1987, Jim Webb was appointed Secretary of the Navy becoming the first Naval Academy graduate in history to serve in the military and be appointed Secretary of the Navy.
* Jim Webb’s candidacy for the United States Senate has also been endorsed by Retired Army General and ‘04 Democratic Presidential candidate Wesley Clark, Retired USMC General and former Commander of U.S. Central Command Joseph Hoar, Retired USMC General and former Commander of U.S. Central Command Tony Zinni, Retired USMC Lt. General and former Commander of Operations, J-3 Staff Gregory Newbold, Retired USMC Lt. General Frank Petersen, the highest-ranking African American in USMC history, Lt. Colonel Kate Wilder, Brigadier General Clara Adams-Ender, Major General Gail Reals, Navy Captain Barbara Brehm, Assistant Secretary of the Air Force Ruby Demesme, Colonel Barbara Lee, US Army Major Susan Kellom, Major Susan Yamamoto, Major Patricia Anderson, Former Assistant Secretary of the Navy Carolyn Becraft, and Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson former Chief of Staff to former Secretary of State Colin Powell and special assistant to General Powell when he was Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff
* In addition to his wartime medals, Jim Webb has been awarded the following medals and citations:
o The VFW’s Media Service Award
o The Department of Defense distinguished Public Service Medal
o The Medal of Honor Society’s Patriot Award
o The American Legion National Commander’s Public Service Award
o The Marine Corps League’s Military Order of the Iron Mike Award
o The John Russell Leadership Award
o The Robert L. Denig Distinguished Service Award.

It is about time you stopped criticizing people who serve in our military just because you want to make it a democrat vs. republican canned argument.

It reduces your credibility.

How did the news get to the public? Did Bush tell it? It was put out by Webb.

A reporter was standing near. Who cares how it got out? If we have to go by everything the administration puts out we will never know the whole truth. That goes for dems. or repubs.

This guy worked for a real conservative---Ronald Reagan, and you are accusing him of loyalty to his son who is serving in Iraq?

C'mon guys. Y'all are about as twisted as any democrat I have seen.

You remind me of someone who has accused the republicans of a vast right wing conspiracy. Her initials are H. C.

PT, I get a lot out of his sermons. Today it's credibility. A couple of days ago it was hypocrisy. Maybe he's just trying to give us examples?

Geeeze. I thought you would at least be happy with the "You are right!"

You are soooooo hard to please.

So only you two or three neocons can say anything bad about military personnel, even when it isn't true, but if anyone else says anything bad about the military personnel even if it is true they are not patriots.

You people are so full of yourselves. Typical neocons.

at least we still have credibility.......

on Webb......Having worked for him.....he served...and served well....
..but once he stepped into the political arena.....it is as a public servent.....and his "current" conduct is then up for question and debate.....

I feel his wearing his sons boots placed attention on his son......by direct action.....for him to say "keep his son out of this",.....well you decide......

About as much as Dick Cheney getting his gay daughter to protest her politicalization?

You are no coward, you only ask the opposition fights with no hands.
