Our daughter and her husband drove up from Wyoming for Mothers Day. Our grandson was supposed to be spending the weekend with his dad and couldn't come.

EXCEPT...HE DID GET TO COME ALONG!!! So that was the best thing about my Mothers Day. Having us all together one more time. We ate in town and they left about 3 pm.

Oh, grandson hadn't gotten his mother a Mother's Day Card, sooooo granpa gave him an idea (which had worked for him more than once as he isn't good on remembering cards for important days). Little Jack found a huge piece of cardboard, went to the shop and made his mother a card. Wrote the message himself and then brought it in and set it up in the living room. Was his mother ever impressed!!!!! And I think he was impressed with what he had done...sure kept him out of hot water...that time anyhow...kinda like his granpa...

I got to work by 0630 (as usual) and spent the day working with one of my favorite people (she was widowed very young and has managed to raise 2 right, fine sons on her own and still has her sanity intact  )....then the hubby called and told me to meet him and the kiddos at the Chinese restaurant here in town since all the other places are closed on Sundays!!! Would have given my right arm for a juicy steak after the weekend from he**, but the chinese was not too bad!! Got home and found a nice, hand-made card from demodriver...one of those that I will keep forever and show my grandkids...brought tears to my eyes!! Cowboyup surprised me with a bag of my favorite caramels and chocolates.....hmmmmm....me thinks he has "forgotten" about my diet!!    The weather here is simply beautiful today (supposed to be mid-upper 70's....woooohoooooo!), so I will be working out in the yard, planting sweetpeas until the boys have their baseball games tonight!! :D

Sounds like you had a good day, ranchwife.

Just wanted to mention the folks that have the Chinese restaurant there opened one here and it is really good. The only ethnic restaurant in town so it is nice to have somethng different. Their lunches are awesome. I don't know much about Chinese food, so I eat Sweet and Sour mostly.Their shrimp is to die for though. (Oops, this on a cattlemen's site? Well, shrimp once in awhile is okay...right?)

Ha Ha, Jersey Lilly, The first time we were in one was about 1970. Mr. FH and our daughter ordered...HAMBURGER!!! :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

I'm not saying I would like all Chinese food because I doubt that I would. I suggested going there yesterday and our son-in-law said, "Chinese food is okay, but you can eat a lot and are hungry half an hour later."

So we had Rib Steaks for Mothers Day. And they were awsome!!!

Hehehe I'm sure it's not all bad...but it was a BAD experience for me, one that did me in on Chinese food. When all was said and done, and I was walkin up to the register to pay out, I walked past the desert bar.....(hadn't seen it before then) and what did I see........among all the deserts sat a container of oreo's..........I turned to the girl that was with me and said...."by golly if I'd known they had oreo's on the desert bar, I'da ordered a glass of milk and went to dunkin"

The lesser half got free tickets to a local Fireman's Ball on Sat. night. (You come to our dance and we'll come to your fire.) He arranged the baby sitter and took me on the first date we've had in about two years.

On Mother's Day, the kids got up at the crack of dawn (much too early for us who had finally gotten to bed around 2AM). The six year old slipped in and whispered in Dad's ear, "How hot is the stove supposed to be for the waffle iron?"
Dad decided to get up and make French toast for breakfast. So, a date and breakfast. Can't be beat.

(Though he kept telling everyone at church that he wasn't doing anything for Mom's Day since, "you can't spoil 'em that way. Then she'd get to expecting it. Keep the bar low!")

Sounds like many good days were had. We can be included in that...

We had t-bones and twice baked potatos for dinner Sat. night and went to a neighbors branding Sunday. We just sat around all afternoon with a few beverages, let the kids run, visited, and played a few card games.
The wife even had a carnation for each of us moms that spent mother's day with them. It was a really nice day. Nicer than most we tend to have

Friday, Luke (4) heard on the radio of the pickup Mother's day was coming. He says" oh Happy modders day mom." I said thanks and he said "now I have to give you a surprise" and gave me a big smooch. It was really sweet, and I told him that was all I could want. He did his big belly laugh and that was that.
