What would you do to STOP the Fighting in Iraq?

What could we do to protect our Troops?
No Idea is to small or to big or to dumb!

Dad would use a Spring Tooth with a Big Electro Magnetic pulled no a cable by a Helicopters in front of all Convoys.

How about autos allowed only on every 4th street – 3 safe streets then 1 withTraffic then 3 safe streets.

How about let Iran have their kick at the cat. They claim they can do it. And if they die trying.... well, brings to mind something about a couple of birds and a rock

I don't think it can be stopped. Not right now. That's the worst part of the whole mess. I think if Iran moved in, Iraq would eventually cease to exist in it's present form. These two countries have been at war for many many years, although it hasn't gotten a lot of press. Millions of Iraqi's and Iranians died fighting each other when Saddam was in power and picking fights. It would be like asking the North Koreans to 'watch over' South Korea. There would be revenge.

As long as there is oil under Iraq, and it's not a strong independent country capable of running itself, and defending itself, the fighting will go on. The best way to stop the fighting is to give the Iraqi's the ability to run their own affairs with no outside influence.

The real trick is to find a way to do this. Enough people have died already. Soldiers, children, and innocent civilians.

Is Iraq in its present form something worth saving? Sunni's will be killing Kurds long after the last drop of oil is gone from under that place. Keep in mind too that Sadam was picking fights with Iran when the US was encouraging and funding it. Saddam was an ally, remember?
My point is that these people hate. These haters want revenge. Let them take revenge on each other, not your American soldiers.

I think what Iraq needs is an evil dictator to run the country and keep the waring factions in line. Kinda like the guy who used to run the show there. Or maybe mr bush is keeping the job open for when his term is over.

I am not sure pulling out is the right thing to do, nor am I sure staying there is the right thing either.
What I do think is if we stay, keep the pols out of it and let the military do what it is trained to do. Sure there will be some innocent lives lost but I am also sure there will a lot of lives saved in the long run.
I also believe all the monday morning quarter-backing by both parties is not going to solve a thing, we need to pull together, and get the job done.

Glenn Becks show last night was very interesting. And frightening.
We are gonna cave in to President Tom, he's really stepping in
and swaying other countries against up. I suggest EVERYONE
go to his website and read what he had to say. And of course,
he had people to back him up. He doesn't worry about being
politically correct and he is worried for America. For one thing,
because we don't stand together. Pres. Tom senses the change
in America because of the last election and he is building on that.

If our news media would only play fair, I think America could figure
this out much better.

The only political system I can see standing any chance of success is a federal system in which each ethnic group has their own regeonal government with representation in the central government to maintain a political alliance in order to ensure oil revenues are shared throughout the country, the reality in instituting this is nowhere near as easy as it appears in this statement!

FH- Maybe my brain is froze up or I'm missing something- but who is President Tom?

Ollie North says that the military is doing a good job of what the military is supposed to do...But we had no plan for thereon- and now we have the military doing jobs they are not trained for-- setting up schools and education programs, setting up and running the oil pumping centers, being policemen, being diplomats, setting up and running power systems for the entire country, etc. etc...He said the only chance was if we had brought in people in those fields to do more- but now it sounds like it is getting too dangerous for that possibly....
Ollie's going there again to see firsthand...

The fact is that as long as you are the 'occupier' you will also allways be the 'enemy'. No amount of good will is ever going to change that. If the shoe were on the other foot, say the Russians were over here, we would never lay down and accept it even if their political philosophy were equal or similar to ours. Even if they tried building roads and schools. We'd be sniping at them from every corner. If it was my decision I'd be doing something like they are now; train up some Iraqi replacements and get the hell out just as soon as they are close to being ready. That country won't form a threat to this side of the ocean for a very long time. They hate each other too much for that.
Democracy needs time to form from the ground up, you can't impose it. If you could it wouldn't really be democracy would it?
