Okra's the only thing left now. Besides a few late tomatoes that I noticed yesterday.
I'm 5ft 4in tall.....and this is how much taller the okra is than me.

Okra blooms are really pretty too.

They bloom in the morning....then close up mid afternoon.

The next day the bloom has fallen off....and you have a baby okra pod.

Okra cut up and canned for frying later. This is the first year I've ever tried this. Freezin it didn't work. Tasted like the freezer. So I did a few jars of this a couple weeks ago. Fried some of it last night and it tastes just like freshed picked. So I put up a few more jars of it today.
(Hafta leave em upside down for 2 days)

Thanks for posting those!

The flowers remind me of poppies. I assume they are a very productive plant. You just don't see them here.

Lets see, No, I don't believe okra is related to hemp. Some of our native range plants are related to okra and cotton. I would have to look it up, but I believe it is the mallows. Would also be related to the Hollyhock.

So far so good. We hafta keep it wrapped with a sole boot wedge thing on the bad foot. And a soft ride boot on the other foot.
Few days ago it came off in the pen....and dummy me just thought, ok gotta rewrap tonight anyway...and I didn't pick it up. I was just thinkin to myself....it'll be there this evenin when she gets here. Well.....Turbo (her heeler) decides to wonder off with it. So it wasn't there when we go out to get him outta his stall to rewrap. Took the softride boot off too since he was higher on one leg than the other with it on.
Well...the next day he was gimpy gimpy without em. The sole is a wedge and has him tipped forward. I'd called the vet and told him what happened...and he said it might be time to try it without them. But apparently not. We may hafta transition the heal or somethin before he can go without it.
He has an appt tomorrow for a check up.

Glad to hear your horse is all healed up. :D
