Tam- we didn't get a chance to get into the ********* movement--his wife was in a hurry...
Mostly chatted about your private "Big Beaver" border port-- and touched briefly on our favorite topic-- how extreme partisanship and lobbyiest $ have tore down the political system and governing ability-- to the detriment of the people ....

We've spent hours in the past talking about the old days of how a bill would get tied up in Congress- and a few Congressmen/Senators would get together- do a little give and take (maybe even over a toddy or two)- and get a workable product/bill for the benefit of the country...Might not be exactly what all want- but they understood the give and take of negotiation...

But now all it seems they want to do is call each other names- throw slurs at each other- and all follow their cultist leaders goosestep.... Every Congressman wants their 5 minutes on the nightly news slamming the other party and other Congressmen... Media has fasttracked the tearing of this country apart.....

Oldtimer....you are no different. You follow your cultist leader with slamming Bush instead of admitting Obama (ever notice no one calls him President Obama) needs to sit down and work with the R party instead of him and his side kick Pelosi wanting everything done the D way.

I voted for President Bush- figures it gives me a right to slam him when he screws up..But I gave him 5 years to get his sh*t together (which he didn't)- so will do the same with President Obama...

This partisanship isn't new- it happened under Clinton- steamrolled under Bush (altho he also ran under campaign promise of working across the aisles)- and has festered out of sight under Obama..But its far different than the workings of 30-40 years ago....Remember how a couple of new Montana Repub party leaders tied up the entire last Montana legislature- threatening to put it into an extra costly session...Luckily the more common sense rational party members went around them to negotiate a deal...And then after the session was done- the party thru out that leadership....Doesn't seem to be working in D.C.- if the party (either one) says jump- they ask how high-- and have lost the ability to legislate on their own common sense....

Ranchhand- take some time at night to watch the hearings on C-SPAN--- and watch how during the hearings- across the board members of both parties will sit and agree that something needs to be done on an issue- and then 10 minutes later when one party or the other didn't get everything they wanted- they will be out in front of a camera slamming everything- and calling each other names... Its putting partisan politics (and lobbyiests dollars) ahead of whats best for the country.....
Its year around campaigning- the reason we need term limits (which will never come to be).....

You know OT, there is nothing wrong with deciding a rep./Pres. is a dud after only 1 or 2 years, but why would you wait for 5 years to decide? Only to give him another 4 years to screw things up? :???:

that's the reason for the 4 year terms, if you didn't realize it.

Can you explain how the Big Beaver Port is my private port when I use it about once every three or four years if that? I told you, you need a better spy. :p

And I'm sure if you had told him of your feelings about the tea partiers his wife would not have had to hurry him away as He would have walked away from you shaking his head like everyone else.
