mostly livestock and grain----with an occasional thrill
me and a horse----sometimes a dog
a cat with no tail----chase'n a frog
with chemicals and fertilizer----and anti-biotics
there came the ninties----with all kinds of exotics
with camels for sale----one hump or two
you could buy an ostrich----i bought a few
brought a couple home----put em' in a coop
wormed em' and fed em'----they made good soup
thought i would keep a pair----just for breed'n
not a know'n ----where the future was lead'n
out do'n the chores----early one morn
had me a bucket----of bird feed and corn
the male was a come'n at me----all puffed up and red
it was now breeding season----and he wanted me dead
i could tell by his peepers----he was no longer a pet
a swing'n my bucket----my life he did threat
the big bird kicked forward----my bucket he took
i cleared a five ft gate----this bird i would cook!!
after gather'n my marbles----torn were my britches
with several bruises and cuts----i darn near needed stiches
grabbed me a rifle----i was gonna get even still
