On foal watch

Good luck on the foal.....Every once in awhile there is one you will await in a lot more anticipation....

I have a Barred Mare. Some great Cutting horse lines in her. I am looking at a Colonel Freckles/Grey Starlight Stud to breed her to. Lots of folks, even the guy that owns the stud, try to steer me to newer lines. But for me, Colonel Freckles is pretty tried and true,

That Colonel Freckles stuff is nothing to sneeze at that's for sure. The ones I have played with have had very will dispositions, great athletic ability and just plain all around nice horses. I like them alot better than the current reining lines. Keep in mind I am no quarter horse expert, I just calls them as I sees them from a training perspective. Even with my Thoroughbreds I see no point in keeping nasty horses that don't want to work. I dont care how much "their daddy's cost" if they are going to kill me for taking of a halter. Stick with the Colonel Freckles stuff, there temperment is WELL worth it.

I don't know if this ole boy is still around but I have seen him up close and personal. Nice lil feller! His progeny earnings are fantastic and he is pretty too boot :) http://www.wardriverranch.com/just_plain_colonel.htm

PPRM, take a look at Missin Freckle.
His is Colonel Freckles, Dash for Cash bred.
He is an awesome horse and an awesome producer.
Try this link:
www.nlfuturity.com/stallions/missin-freckle.htm

He doesn't just sire barrell racing horses, but team roping,
team penning and breakaway ropee horses too.

Be sure to click on the owners website. When you go there
it talks about Stella, a tie-down rope horse out of Missin Freckle.
The stallion is so very versatile.

Also, be sure to click on "about our family"...it's great reading.
Those Ogilvie girls are top hands, both families of them.

I know this horse and the people that own him.
Both are top-notch.

Let me know what you think.

Old, buddy? :pretty: , or just a real healthy fear of your little missus?

I haven't been afraid of any woman on earth, since I was 7 years old.

got a lot of respect for quite a few, but scared, nawwww.

I am kind of a silver tounged devil, with the ladies. How'd you think I managed to snag one?

My wife told me years ago, that if I wanted to go to town and get another woman, to go for it. But by golly I had to bring her home with me to help with cookin' and cleanin. So far, I've never found any who would agree to that arrangement.

Very nice...He ran a lot in my country I see....First thing I noticed in all
the pictures...NO TIE DOWN! I Love that...

I tried to find a link to the Stud I was talking about..Mackenzie Ranch in Baker City, Oregon...I may have mispoke on the Grey's Starlight part of the Pedigree, but don't think so. I saw a mare with Colonel Freckles and Doc Olena in the sale offering...

Here is the closest I can find to the Production sale they had, it appears they spend more time in the Saddle than in front of a computer, LOL.... The site is worth going to for the pictures if nothing else.. Magnificent western Ranch Scenery...

Nicky would know more of this deal than I.

Anyways, I was turned onto this after not being able to find a different Colonel Freckles Stud I liked. Seems he is out of the area now. A lady that is in the NW cutting horse hall of fame advised me to look at this stud after hearing what I was looking for..Funny how I am prone to listen carefully to ladies I deem having lots of experience looking at cow Horses, Meant as a compliment FH.....

This lady grew up on a ranch in the Hepner area, was on the Pendleton Roundup court as well....

Welp.....Back to the beach

;-}

I never did find a Colonel Freckles stud there.
Did I just miss it? Or am I looking for something else?

Those young horses look pretty leggy to me.
Country covering horses, for sure.

BTW, thanks for the compliment.
I needed it about now, and I rather enjoyed it. :D

See, I never saw one either, but there is one mare listed. I looked back and this flyer is a few years old....I just did a quick Gooogle search and this was the closest deal I came up with...they are in Nicky's country though,

So, as of yet, I am not sure I can find the Stud on the internet, but could call Lannie and find out,
