In about an hour we are heading to Pearson Int'l to drop my oldest son and his hockey gear off. All umpteen bags of it, what with him being a goalie.
For a couple of years, he had been thinking about taking up the invitation of a friend and occasional teammate of his to go to the Czech Republic on a mini-tournament. So this winter he is going on a 10 day tour with a bunch of other local Canadian guys to play a few games against Czechs of a similar (I hope  ) skill level.
It is a hockey-oriented missions trip and will give them opportunity to share their faith while at the same time giving them exposure to the Czech culture.
Even though he's a big boy now, 26 years old, it still kinda tugs to see him off on his own. Kinda tugs for him too to not be around on Valentine's Day to see his sweetheart! Oh well how many girls can say that they had roses sent from Prague on Feb. 14th!
Seems like only yesterday that we brought the lil rascal home from the hospital weighing all of 4lb. 12 oz., a month premature. Tiny and fragile looking, he didn't weigh much more than the goalie stick he uses now. It sure makes me wonder where the years went.
Maybe he will come home sporting a Hasek or Vokoun jersey . . .
