Thunderous applause
House members gave him thunderous applause for his honesty and embraced him. As majority leader, Garn was the House's point man on a series of legislative ethics bills this year that were designed to restore the public's faith in the Legislature after recent accusations of bribery.

"While this payment felt like extortion, I also felt like I should take her word that the money would help her heal. She agreed to keep this 25-year-old incident confidential. Now that this issue is coming up again, it is apparent to me that this payment was also a mistake," Garn said.

say what... honesty... after paying her $15,000 to keep quiet?

I am not sure who is sleezier... Garn who rationalizes the pay-off and now that it is exposed, sees it was a mistake... ya buddy..... it was wrong for a 28 year old to take advantage of a15 year old teen who worked with you. it was a bribe, it was a cover-up, and now that your exposed, you think it might have been wrong to pay her off...

or is the house who cheered and embraced him? thunderous applause for a leech, who bribed and covered up a scandalous incident, and now wants forgiveness after he is exposed....
