We all know the economy is not as rosey as the pres says it is we all just look over our shoulder an see what is going on.
Where I live the economy has taken another tail spin more of fear than anything. This spring and summer things were looking better but the last few weeks has been looking as much or more scary than last year.
2 established restaurants and one new one have closed in a neighboring town of 2000 population this summer. A local radio station owner lives in a well used Winnebago with the station ads on it. He trades free ads for good and services he wants. Free Restaurant ads where he gos to eat, free repair shop ads where he owes money on repairs etc. Hiring kids and not paying them calling it work experience.
People are afraid to sell anything as they are feared they not going to get enough money for . Example we have a surplus of hay and nobody is wanting to sell hoping for a long cold winter to gouge their neighbors.
A man lost his semi truck lease because no business and loosing his semi.
He goes for breakfast with the coffee crowd. He moved from breakfast to cheaper restaurants and ordering very small items. He moved over to Hardiees I stopped in he was having coffee as it was 20 cents cheaper and no breakfast. He has two bananas in his pocket for lunch. Going to work loading feed at the feed store with a back brace on. He had been hauling semi loads of feed for another feed store. He knows I do not own horses but asked me if I could buy some of his.
One man went in to visit at Hardees and did not have anything not even coffee.
Another man works in the tire shop drove to the store and bought one burrito for lunch. Another man started up a shop and told me he had not had a customer in 3 weeks and was moving out and closing up yesterday.
Our local TV news claims the booming business in this area is people buying refrigiators sp freezers and cell phone batteries. Parents are pretty happy since school started as they can have the school feed the kids breakfast and lunch.
People would joke about the cattle people a few years ago but when the cattle are moving and farmers putting up hay that the only time our economy has jumped this year. I can drive my livestock trailer into the tire shop they will take off a fix the tire and happy to do it. Two years ago the same shop would not allow a livestock trailer in their shop.
There is more just a few highlight what the real world is not the Obamma TV show.
What about other areas.
