One Good Neighbor

There is a poster on ranchers.net that is a great example of a good neighbor and all around good person. I don't have permission to say who this is, and it may not matter except that the deed should be recogized.

When their neighbors were in drought, and burned out by fire, this person unselfishly gave up some personal gain and sold some of their own stock. This was to free up some grass for the neighbors that had grass burned in a fire.

I would like to think that is what living in a rural area, and being a great neighbor is all about. I can't hardly imagine such a thing happening in a big city or so forth.

Anyway, this person didn't tell me so as to be congratulated for it, but I thought they should be. 8) And if you ever need help, I bet you are paid back for it.

Tap---thank you so very much for sharing the story of this amazing "un-named" person!! :D In an age of selfishness, it is so very heart-warming to know there are still folk out there who will go the extra mile to help out a neighbor.....................and a friend!!

Thank you, Tap, for sharing this with the rest of us.

I have learned something from the example this fine individual has set for us......sometimes we just get so caught up in our own troubles, that we tend to forget the other guy. I'm glad that whoever you're talking about, didn't.

I know what you mean, after being on this site for quite a while I can honestly say that I believe there are many that would give the shirt off their back to help others here. Many of who I can think of have posted on this thread. It has been the greatest honor to get to know some of you who can truly be called a neighbor and friend. That is what is so great about our way of life.

Oh and about the shirt off their back.............I hope dis doesn't think it is her. Her without a shirt is a scary thought..........

Whoever she is, defines the word "integrity". (Doing the right thing, tho
no one knows you are doing it.)

You got the last part of this correct FH, but I didn't say they were a he or she. The deed is what counts anyhow. :)

lol FH.

I didn't say they were MY neighbor either. Just someone's good neighbor.

I am sure not trying to make light of this. I just thought it was real neat, and I am sure you do too.

I know this is a rural net, but must correct an error, actually I should call it as it is: prejudice.

Kindness also happens in the city. We've seen many acts of kindness over the years- and sacrifice- during our urban lives. Some that spring to mind:

Paying for someone's medical expenses.
Taking in someone who is homeless.
$3000 raised ( last report I heard) last week when a young woman and child burned to death for funeral expenses
Meals delivered for weeks or even months as needed to an ill / aged family and I'm not talking just a plate of cookies.
Donations when a neighbors house foundation washed out
Last week a friend paid for another friend's housing rental so she could take a needed vacation.
The list goes on. Things are done quietly usually, with no tooting
horns. Maybe that's why you haven't heard of kindness in the city.

I am glad you pointed out my error nr. I stand corrected.

You are right that kindness is just that in any form. I know from reading your posts for so long, that you would pass on a good deed if called upon too.

Thank you for correcting me. :)

Of course acts of kindness also happens in cities.I grew up in one I know this. I think you misunderstood, nobody was tooting thier own horn,we've all been on the recieving end of rural kindness this was the point I believe was being made nr,no offence was intended :)

Likewise. I am certain Tap didn't mean to differentiate between city and country. This just happened to be country. He'd have mentioned it if the 'giver' had been a city person.

I'm sure there are many acts of kindness that happen in both places.

We hear so much 'bad news' that it is refreshing to hear some good news.
As for me, I love good news!
