Gibbons criticizes Obama over denied meeting request

Gov. Jim Gibbons said today that President Obama has denied his request to meet with him in Las Vegas later this month.

The governor had sent the president a letter last month saying he wanted to discuss the economic difficulties facing the state's tourism industry. Gibbons said today that he was notified Obama won't meet with him while the president is in Las Vegas on May 26 for a fundraiser for Sen. Harry Reid.

"I am disappointed at the hypocrisy shown by this administration," Gibbons said in a prepared statement. "President Obama is coming to Las Vegas later this month for a political fundraiser, but he will not help the struggling families in Las Vegas and Nevada who are out of work because of his reckless comments."

Gibbons is referring to comments Obama made earlier this year regarding business trips to Las Vegas by companies receiving federal bailout money.

"This is politics, pure and simple, President Obama stood for change, but all he has done is brought negative economic change to Nevada," Gibbons said.

Unemployment is double digits in Nevada, think he might get an earful, if he showed up anywhere other than a Democrat soiree?

He'll be a busy man doing these fund raisers, for the next year.

I wonder if Dodd has his planned yet

Obama is a great man.

What do you expect of someone who just gave away Chrysler and shut down over 800 dealers and put over 30,000 more people out of work and all this in less than 4 months in office.

Well, maybe Gibbons can now make sure his state has paper ballots so Diebold won't be able to vote Reid back in...............

It doesn't surprise me that Obama won't meet with him, this stimulus plan is not for the bottom 75% of people. It is simply to control who can produce what and how much of it (the government will control this, government controlled competition = fascist economy).

I probably wouldn't meet with Gibbons either- as the nut case is wracked in scandal and criminal investigations....Remember when his estranged wife took over the Governors Mansion- and he was trying to get a court order to evict her  :???:

Considering that Barry wanted Bill Richardson (also embroiled in scandal and under investigation) and all of tax cheats he has surrounded himself with, do you really think he cares about dirty politicians? Birds of a feather flock together.
