This is my 7th wagon in my lifetime. I think this is the end, as its as far as I can get to what I want. Took me 4 years of wrasslin with my good friend to get it :) Now I will be happy. Well, maybe I will, I am a man so who knows whats next.

Yes, I will start cooking out of it for some fun competions this fall or next spring. This one is now 153 yrs old, so it will get gentle treatment.I have another that I use to pull, but I sold my team last fall so it is parked now too. I have no plans for another team right now, as all my folding money is buying feed.

Wow! That looks very nice. Do you have the history on it? Who made it, where it's been, etc.?

I'm glad my spouse did not see it first! Anyway, he isn't so good at arm wrestling now, not that he ever did much of that. He has two rotator cuffs with tears. Pretty ouchy and no fun to recuperate from repairs, so he is tolerating it for now.

Will you be taking it to Cheyenne Frontier Days? Pretty good chuck wagon cooking contest there. Good luck wherever you cook!

That is one of the neatest things I have ever got the priviledge to see! :D I would love to have an old buckboard and a team. That old Chuckwagon is priceless. Just think of the storys it could tell! Thanks for sharing! Holler when the biscuts and coffee are ready! :D

I may have pictures around somewhere but they would be from before the digital camera era for me. The were different styles and types but 4 were chuckwagons. None as good as this one. this one dates to Nov. 20, 1856. I dont know the history of it yet, I am working on trailing it backwards. I have pulled them with blondes, blacks, and grays, but prefer the ones with the longest ears :D

yes the legend has it Charles Goodnight added a chuck box to an old army wagon. Studebaker made the first mail order chuckwagon. Wagons such as this and most of the others that are around are just double board high wagons with the additional chuck box and other jockey boxes and appendages added to use as trail or ranch wagons. So only the wagon is from 1856.
