I received this from a friend in Emporia, KS. It will make you sick.

Here is a letter thatI am hoping that the local paper, THE EMPORIA GAZETTE, will publish. Please feel free to pass this on to anyone who you think might be interested.

Dear editor: (Due to the nature of my service and as a security issue please withhold my name, if at all possible.)

I am a member of the Kansas Army National Guard. I am a former marine as well. I returned home from 15 month’s active duty in Kosovo last January. I am scheduled to re-deploy June 4th of this year for another 18 months and I will be serving in a war zone which I am not at liberty to disclose. I volunteered for this duty as an opportunity to serve my country again.

On Monday, May 1st, I was at the Lyon County Fairgrounds to observe the immigration rally. On my truck I proudly displayed both the American flag and the flag of the United States Marines.

Within minutes of arriving at the parking lot I was approached by no less than 4 law enforcement vehicles and several officers. I was ordered to immediately remove the flags from my vehicle.

When I attempted to ask why, an officer replied, “Shut your mouth and go home”. I was told if I didn’t comply that I would be arrested without delay for disorderly conduct. There was no opportunity to reason with the police. I was given an ultimatum and was forced to comply or forfeit my freedom.

I’ll not go into the obvious implications that this incident raises. I will leave it to you and to your readers to explain how it is that as a citizen and solider I was not allowed to display the flag of the nation that I serve and protect. Meanwhile I stood in a sea of flags from foreign nations, some waived by hand, others attached to vehicles. I was also profanely insulted by one of the demonstrators who himself was flying a Mexican flag from his vehicle.

I would ask that each of you who read this ponder the inference of the actions of the officers in question, what it says about our country at present and the ominous implications of the future.

The immigration issue is not a joke; it is a matter of huge proportion concerning the security of our nation and the safety of our people.

I have seen a lot in my military career and many things have moved me deeply but not until this heartbreaking incident was I literally reduced to tears. The disrespect and outright hatred shown to me by both the demonstrators and by the law enforcement officers of my own hometown was heartrending.

Some might question just exactly what I am serving for. I hope you can find the answer in your own hearts. My conviction to serve still does not waver.

Something weird must have been going on in Kansas.

Think of all the photos they had of the marches and rallies around the country--US flags were everywhere.
My sister in law marched with a bunch of her husband's family and they all carried American flags...

Out of curiosity, I Googled for Lyon co. Kansas immigration rally.

Found this:
http://www2.ljworld.com/photos/2006/may/2/

Both the pro-immigration rally, and the anti-immigration rally 100 yds away were flying American flags.

I'm guessing there's something more to your friend's story than he's letting on...

I'm sorry but I did check this out before I posted it. Seems there was some of this going on and some of what you say. The only thing is this story was not carried by the media.............................hmmmm

Check what out? A letter from a friend? :???:

I highly doubt there was anything along the lines going on.
We're not talking LA, afterall. It was Emporia, Kansas. And there was a group of people who were demonstrating against the immigrant rally... Even if Emporia were awash in political correctness, why were those people not harrassed?

I copied it from the email......................so sorry I did not take the time to explain it slowly. I sinned.........I will never let it happen again.

The ironic thing is that the story was true, unless a person chooses to

My apologies.
I took you at your word as your post started out: I received this from a friend in Emporia, KS.
It is it illegal to send second hand emails in Emporia? Am I missing something? (this would be a good place for me to put one of your emoticons)

RR, if you're confused, re-read the thread. no one said anything of the sort.

I posted a link that showed pics of the Emporia rally. Both those pro-immigration and those opposed. Both of whom were happily flying American flags.
You had an e-mail from an unknown source that claims to have been harrassed while all those other people were allowed to protest to their heart's content?

You're telling me we should believe the word of a second-hand (more likely fifth or sixth, at least) e-mail over a lcoal newspaper that even has pictures?

good grief, you're really reaching this time...

Emporia, being a pacing plant town, is awash in the spanish peoples...

it is a rough town, too many Mexicans for a man to feel safe at night. Sister went to school there, and she say way too much and got out of there.

the reason you saw the photos of everyone waving the red white and blue is because you are seeing pictures of the SECOND marches and rallies. the first round they all waved the Mexican flag. But they realized the bad press and corrected that error for round two.

when MY rights are suspended for a forieners rights, I think it is time to get the militias and take our country back!

now, if we build a fence, Mexico says it will take us to court in our own country!!!!

this is so much crap, someone with balls better step up to the plate and knock this one out of the park...we are selling out our soverniety, piece by piece, and the bulk of the nation os too blind to see it happening

It was sarcasm erin , where in his letter did it say he didn't recieve it from a friend in emporia? It could be second hand from a friend in emporia.

No, passin gas, the story is either true or it's not. The photos and articles indicated it's unlikely. So do you think the truth is important or not?

Now real slowly....................maybe you can understand, which I seriously doubt you can or WILL.

See just because it wasn't frontt page headlines doesn't make it false.
The source is very credible.
Both stories can be true.

The truth is very important to me.........seems the truth is of no importance to you...................I guess which is very probable since it DOES NOT FIT YOUR AGENDA.

I'll bet you still act stupid on this........I'd expect no more from you.

Oh and thanks for the name.......I see you still have to resort to this tactic when you have nothing else.

Uh ranchwife, you might want to check again. It's passin' thru who "picked" this particular fight.
I just manage to recognize BS when I see it.

C'mon, surely you're not also suggesting we believe spam e-mails over a local newspaper with pictures?

Listen little lady................I did not pick the fight. I posted an article and you chose to ignore it because it did not fit your agenda. Too bad that you choose to ignore things that do not fit your agenda.

Now quit trying to pick a fight so you can hide your obvious biases.

"Article"??
You posted a spam e-mail.
And so far as agendas, you posted it because it fit yours. "Only in America", because of course, only in America would immigrants be allowed to fly their flags while military personnel wouldn't be allowed to fly an American flag.
Except that it's BS. You've still yet to answer why other people were even allowed to protest but this guy didn't get to simply fly his flag while he sat there.

Have you been to Kansas lately? Do you actually think you're going to find very many cops who are more sympathetic to a bunch of Mexicans of questionable legality than a local serviceman?

The source is very credible.
Both stories can be true.

If the story is credible why does it only show up on the 'net as a spam e-mail?
And both stories could be true... Except for the part about no supporting evidence whatsoever and not making any sense....
Considering how many people have the same agenda you do, wouldn't it make sense that at least one of your favorite pseudo-news pages online would have picked this up by now?

Denny,
Are you just here to express your inner child? Or do you actually have something to contribute to the questions at hand?

Obviously logic has no place in this thread. You people want so desperately to believe Kansas is awash in immigrant sympathizers you're blinded to common sense...
