I dont like my heifers fat, not skinny either. That's why in this pic she doesn't look like a butterball, I don't want any fat deposits in her udder.

ACS. If you take your pictures directly from the front or side it gives a better perspective to comment on. Animals pictured at angles are very hard to critique.

She'll get used to it, ACS....... Maybe you could get someone else to take the pictures, while you're working with her.......it seemed to work pretty well with Tillie last year.

I think she looks pretty good, from what I can tell. I hope you have the best of luck with her, and she doesn't "eat your lunch" too often.....

looks like a good looking heifer to me....I used to show a few shorthorns and they always had a good temperment...now you can just breed her for a show calf and get a $5000 show steer outta her :)

lol me too...im just 18 year old with cow fever...how old are u?
Its tuff for a show steer outta a heifer i guess but couple years ago we bred a couple heifers to heat seaker and had no problems. Couple years ago when we had some shorthorn cows still, we bred them to Whitestone Widespread, an angus bull...If i had a herd of shorthorn cows i would breed them all to him in a heart beat...Ive got about 10 cows in my herd out of him and they are great...Feed them nothing and they still perform and maintain their flesh...Thats why i thought the shorthorn cross with him was great...I still believe a shorthorn bull on a group of angus cows is the best cross there is...what kind of cows you have?

Lol, I'm 14.

I've heard of Widespread, but also heard his semen was hard to get a hold of and very expensive.

Well, dad has shortie/simm/angus cows, simm/angus cows, and hereford/angus cows, a few purebred herf's (non registered) and a few heinz 47. lol. I myself have all angus and angus cross, besides this shorthorn, but I am crossing everything from now on cause the CAA was startign to aggrivate me, a good bull doesnt need papers anyways

Do you have msn or yahoo messenger?

Have a good one

Nice looking little heifer. I know you mentioned you do not like them to fat. But she does seem like to me she should start getting pushed harder on a good show ration if you are going to show her.

Are you just running her with the herd now or is she getting special feed and treatment?

Shhe is with the herd right now, she isn't going to be pushed very hard, because imho, a good productive cow is worth more than a win in the ring. In the next little while we wre goign to get her going on oats.
