:???: :???: What? I have no problems with requiring voter ID's... I thought you once claimed to be from Montana.... If you really are from Montana you would know we've had a law requiring you show proof if identity in Montana for years ..

OT would just like to have year round voting...it would be racist, not to

Wrong Again.... Actually I would like to see all state and local elections limited to 3 months campaigning- and then a month which to vote...

6 months campaigns for President...3 months- convention- 3months- vote...

But I'm sure someone would squeal about that being unconstitutional under the first amendment freedom of speech...

Months to vote? Months? So I'm guessing that if you vote on the first day of the 3 month timeframe but later find out that your favorite guy was a child molester and serial killer, you'd be able to change your vote?

So much for October surprises. They'd need to have a fall surprise.

NO- state and local- limited to 3 months campaigning - with you voting during the final month....

Presidential 6 months campaigning total-- 3 months- during which they hold all primaries and caucus's- then the convention- then 3 more months of campaigning during which you vote the final month....

In this day and age the media knows how many times a guy farted on June 3 2003 by the end of the first day- they don't need months to vet them.....

Yeah, we saw that when they sent 888 reporters to dig up crap on Palin in Wasilla, Alaska while doing everything possible to give Obama a pass on his socialist past. And, of course, the gullible like you took it hook, line, and sinker. Thanks again for the Obama vote, fatman.

Weren't you the one supporting a longer voting period in Ohio, OT?

A month is plenty long enough... I just don't want to go back to the days of rush to get back to town before the polls close...

I still don't get it OT.

For as long as I can remember, we knew well in advance when the election would be held and if it looked like for some reason we'd not be in town, we could vote absentee.

Our polls were also opened from 6AM to 6PM and allowed to remain open longer if there were voters in line at closing time...which was rare. In all the state, local, and national elections I voted in over the years I don't ever recall a wait of more than about 15 minutes and I lived in a city of 200,000, not a county of 6,000.

I call BS on your constant whining about having to rush get to the polls.

Oh! So voting is all about you, huh?

By the way, you only live a few miles from town.

Couple of weeks of absentee ballots and one day to vote is plenty. Any more welcomes fraud.

Not just me- but many others work far from town...

The first couple weeks of Nov. is shipping time around here... Voting day in November is just another regular shipping day around here.. Often times you didn't get called to work (brand inspect) a shipping until the last minute-so had no opportunity to get an absentee ballot... And when you're trying to get to the polls from the scale sometimes it was close...

Since I saw how it happens with myself, I see how it happens with others who often said they had forgot it was voting day- and guess they wouldn't get to...

Give it a month... I like the mailout ballots, so you can sit at home and go over the ballot closely at your own leisure.... Any questions about an issue or person- you can look the info up or call someone to make a truly informed vote...

Oh yeah, I too was always forgetting that it was a national voting day.

There is NO reason to have a 30 day voting period, period.

I figured you for someone that it would take a month to go over a ballot and understand who was running for office.

Do you not understand that every word you write here only solidifies & calls attention to your ignorance?

If only there was a law that employers give employees time off during the day to vote.

What's needed is a law giving those employees 30 days off so they can study up on the candidates.

That would only work for the resident liberals if there was a mandate that they could borrow a brain as well. And no OT, sharing a neuron with LJ is not the same thing.

Barry has been campaigning since 2006, non-stop...and OT makes it sound like the "good old days" included hitching up the wagon train and carpooling with the neighbours on a 2 week journey to get to the polls
