Our Bull Sale

Its been a crazy couple weeks, but the final finishing touches seem to be coming together for our sale on Feb. 1. Now hopefully the wind don't blow as it looks like it is going to be cold that day. We did put some insulation on the walls this year, so at least it won't be so cold inside We are also trying something different this year, as we have used Superior the last 7 years, but we switched over to www.cattleinmotion.com - an internet broadcast company. Hopefully it works for the ones who want to use it.

Why did you leave Superior?

Kudos for getting insulation. That is a pet peeve of mine: sale barns that have no heat source and insulation and no matter how much clothes you wear you are cold as can be.

Why we left Superior - Strictly a business and finacial decision. A bull sale costs a lot of money to put on, and we thought we would try something else that costs a little less.

It should be good, Van Newkirk's bulls added $1200 to last years average. If I add just $400, I will be happy.

Good luck, hope they do well. It never hurts to have a little luck to go along with good cattle.

how did ya get along Bryan? the cold temps kept me home with the frozen water tanks. :(

Justin,

We had a great day! The crowd was a bit smaller due to the weather (-15 and 20 mile and hour winds), but still a good crowd. Plus, I had 32 guys who was either on the phone or gave us an order, and then 80 registered bidders on Cattle In Motion. We sold every bull but 1 at the auction, and then sold that bull yesterday, and averaged just under $3300.

Man, nice sale. That is probably a bargain on replacement quality red heifers. 750 pound feeder heifers can easily be worth $890-$900 right now.

I was in Lloydminster last Saturday for what one of our posters calls The Lloyd Used Bull Emporium Sale.

MC Quantock had an average of $3552 on just over 400 bulls with 7 not sold. In excess of 80% sold to repeat customers.
The high seller was a registered Black Angus at $11,000 to Everblack Angus.
Volume buyer bought 17 head.

Will post breed averages when I get the information.
