Gun laws start out innocently enough, and then they gradually get worse and worse until there is a Knock on the door. Then they take the guns, and you're left defenseless to the next freedom grab. Before you know it, there is no dissenting opinions on the TV or the radio, or the newspapers and magazines. Once gun rights and speech rights are gone, then more rights soon disappear. There was another famous Quote that is fitting. "Those that fail to learn from History, are doomed to repeat it." Hitler and the Nazi party started out the same way with "sensible gun laws". He also gave flowery speeches and promised "change". How did that choice work out for the German citizens? In late 1930's Germany, the Jews and their money were the enemy, in 2008 it's the "Rich Executives and Big Business" that are the root of all problems in the USA. Sound familiar? Hitler also wanted to "Spread the Wealth". All he brought was death and dispair to Germany and the rest of the world.
The Gun Control Act of 1968 is so similar to the Nazi gun laws it's frightening. Ever since 1968, the government has been chipping away at our rights to own guns of any type. The only thing that has slowed that progression is organizations like the NRA and voices like mine. We're vocal, and we don't compromise with the enemy. This is a fight for our way of life, and our freedom. Americans have never backed away from a fight no matter how bad the situation. Our history is full of examples of our sacrifices around the world. There are American graves from one end of this world to the other. The world is a better place because of America, not in spite of America. This country is responsible for the freedoms enjoyed by hundreds of millions of people all over the world. If we didn't cherish freedom and individual rights, why would we have ever gotten involved in any place outside our borders? This country was never like the European nations or any other nation. It was American Blood and Money that saved Europe after WWII. After defeating Japan and Germany, we spent more blood and money to rebuild those countries. It was American blood and money that stopped N.Korean aggression. It was American Blood and Money that won the Cold War and allowed the Iron Curtain to become a curtain of rust. Because of this country, there are freedoms the world over that would have never existed otherwise. So I don't take my freedoms lightly, because I know what was sacrificed to secure them over the course of time. Just because other countries and their citizens want to travel down the road to slavery and subjugation, doesn't mean I or fellow USA citizens should too. If others chose to live as subjects instead of free men, then I pity them.
