We were in Austin about 3 wks ago and the Bluebonnets were just getting started. Our dau and sil took us to BBQ place called The Salt Lick... It was WONDERFUL........Highly recommended.......... I even had to get a sandwich at the airport( they have a booth) as we were heading back home. It was so good!!

The trailride this year (55th Annual) is done in memory of a local rancher to raise scholarship money for high school seniors in our County. Folks from all over have been participatin in it for years. This year I think they had somewhere around 1200 riders. (Lil Lilly will be applyin for this scholarship)

The car show was put on by our local Masonic Lodge, and it's also a scholarship fundraiser, but is for seniors at our school only. (She'll be applyin for that one too LOL)

The T-Bird was bought by a local rancher..."way back when", because he'd previously bought one that was a convertible, and his wife didn't like goin to church in it, because her hair got blowed. So he went n bought this one. It's still all original. Hasn't been restored. Believe it or not, it still smells new. And it's like drivin a ship. Electric windows/door locks, power steering, AM radio, ac/heat....loaded. Still.....like drivin a ship LOL

T-Bucket Roadster was built by FIL in 1970. Mr Lilly took it to the drag races a few times while in high school. Then one time...after leavin the drag races...and his daddy tellin him...don't "git on it" on the interstate.....well......haha....he got stopped for doin 125 in a 55 and he hadn't got it outta 2nd gear yet.

The 1914.....all I know is...I don't think I wanna attempt to drive it. It's pedals are all messed up.....there is no gas....where the gas normally is...is the brake pedal. The pedal in the middle is reverse. And I can't remember what the pedal on the left is. LOL High and low gear are controlled by a stick on the left side of the driver..looks more like an emergency brake......and the throttle is on the right side of the column like a tractor....and it has another lever on the other side of the column that controlls the timing. It has an electric start button in the floor board, but also has the hand crank that works.
Oh....and thier top speed was 50mph goin downhill. Average speed was 45. Not bad for 1914.

Oh those bluebonnets are beautiful...will they still be around the end of May? I use to date a guy in college that restored cars and so being the good girlfriend I was, I'd go to all the car shows...don't miss the old boyfriend, but sure miss seeing all the cool cars..Looks like a fun weekend!

That's a big trail ride! I hope Lil Lilly gets the scholarship.

Those cars are treasures! Probably better than money in the bank right now. I like to watch the Barrett-Jackson auctions sometimes and just drool over some of the cars that come through there.
