Thanks so much for posting...simply beautiful. I am curious as to which picture was which celestial body...astronomy was a few years ago for me!

Ms Sage...you should show this to your kids...might make them want to "aim for the stars." I know if I were their age it would certainly peak my interest in science.

Cheers--

It is hard to grasp such beautiful colors existing out where
lowly man hasn't seen them until now.
Thank you for posting, Hanta. It was humbling and ....well.......glorious!

Also, did some of those swirly pictures remind you of pieces of polished rocks like quartz? They look sort of like a frozen universe inside.

Or do I have rocks in my head?

Yup, that definatley proves it. God is the best at creating beauty!

Did you guys see all the "little green men" and all the different kinds of space craft? Way cool, dude!

Thanks Hanta, makes me feel pretty small and humble.

Awesome  Thanks.

Here is another site where you can view the earth from different satellites.
Some will be black so you have to check different ones. (shouldn't take much download time)

(Sorry about that, nephews coming so I had to hurry and put some guns away!)(little guys!)

if ya wanna check out something a little "creepy" then download googleearth.com  !!! You can scan in so darned close that you can see the vehicles parked in a drive way and i was able to count the raspberry bushes in a friend's yard!! Pretty cool though, as you can zoom in on anyplace you type into the search!!

I tried it and it's really cool, but I can't get it to clear up, when I get down close. I checked out the town in Switzerland where I was born and also the part of the sandhills where Soapweed and Saddle Tramp and Peach Blossom live. Waaay cool! Thanks ranchwife! :D

Maybe they wouldn't let me look to close where I live as we used to have missle silo's. I could sure get a pretty good look at the Air Base near Rapid City.

Any idea when this view was created, ranchwife?

I've had google earth for a while now and I also have very poor resolution at close quarters........sure is something to be able to fly around and check out the geography of anything you wish though!

I also have very poor resolution at close quarters...

When my brother and SIL were home at Christmas, he and my kids were playing with google earth. He showed them his apartment in Boston, the MIT building where he worked, his favorite coffee shop. Then he took them across the ocean to show them where they were going to live in Dublin, Ireland. The dog park they were going to run their dog in, etc.

But when he tried to show them our house, he couldn't even come close because the resolution was so bad. Even our town wasn't clear.

Apparently low population areas aren't a top priority for sat. pics.
