Anyone want to speculate about how the war in Iraq will end?
We have spent $549 Billion there so far and it is not close to ending. We are losing a battalion a month in killed and wounded. Progress on the ground is not apparent.
I am a dyed-in-the-wool republican, but I had reservations about going to war in Iraq. As time goes by, I get more pessimestic. The public is turning away (They always want an easy way out.) The republicans stand to lose control of both the house and senate due to the war.
My guess is that we will pull a Vietnam. We will train up some more Iraq troops and turn the whole mess over to them. Civil war will follow and then who knows?
On the bright side, those who serve there seem to have good spirits, but some have up to four tours.
Anyone willing to hazard a guess?
By the way, my som is a marine officer with 19 years of service and he doesn't ageee with me.
