House cuts back on Fridays

By Jonathan Easley - 11/30/12 05:18 PM ET
The House is scheduled to be in session on only 15 Fridays in 2013, an almost 30 percent drop from 2011, according to the calendar released by House Majority leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) on Friday.

In 2011, there were 21 scheduled Fridays, compared to only 15 planned for 2013. Members will work only one Friday for nine months out of the year, and two Fridays for the other three months. Both 2011 and 2013 are non-election years.

Poor boys- I hope they don't strain themselves  ...At least old Boehner won't have to skip out early on Fridays for his daily party circuit .... :p  :( :(

OT you take the cake. You talk about Boehner skipping out, how about Obama. He's ABSENT more than he's there. Now I read where he has some extravagant holiday planned for Christmas.

That was pretty good OT!!!

I looked for info on your buddy, Harry Reid, and all I could find was:

Harry Reid
A sexual position where you climb on top and then do absolutely nothing. Named for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV). Under his lack of leadership, the Senate failed to pass a budget in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012. He also blocked votes on numerous jobs bills passed by the House of Representatives.

As in:
I spent so long trying to talk her into bed that when I finally got on, I pulled a 'Harry Reid' and fell asleep.

Or:
He talked a big game, but it turns out he was completely clueless. It was like sleeping with 'Harry Reid'.

Did this have to be voted on?????? Or could the party in power(the majority) pass it without a vote??

Total legislative days 134

http://thomas.loc.gov/home/ds/h1122.html

when it comes to hard work the Senate is out there plowing through those months with a full workload of 17 days in the toughest two months..

with an average of less then 12 days a month.. they should take a break and a month or two off..

yep them ol boys over at the senate are so busy they had to take the month of December off.. but heck.. they are such workaholics they even worked four days in August..

What realy gripes me, is they put everything off to the last minute.
And that's ALL OF THEM. They don't get their work done and we can't do
anything about it but vote them out and so far that's not working so well.

Does it really matter?? Most or seldom there anyway in either house of congress. They show up for important votes (sometimes) and even then many often abstain.

Every day they are not in session saves us tons of money- I wish they would take 364 days a year off.

Yep, we have enough laws as it is.

From what I hear, Boehner works a lot more hours than OT. That is if, he has ever worked an hour...........................

what need is there to have congressman in DC, when you have a "wanna be tyrant" running things, that will just govern by executivee order.

the Congressman might as well be back in their districts, working at their constituency offices.

OT, just because they are not having a vote that day, does not mean they are not working.

Were you working when you were hanging out with the townsfolk and not arresting anybody?

Maybe with a "Friday "off" now and again, they can even find the time to read the bills they are voting on. It's too bad the Democrats didn't have more reading time available to them, when they messed up the economy froim 2007 to 2010

I would "like" for them to get paid what they are worth... and to see the work for a living, like most of the country...

but some folk keep voting the same ol politicians back in...

No, you don't do my thinking or any of your own. You had to take a specific shot at Boehner. Why doesn't it bother you that your boy Oblamea has been MIA for 3/4 of his 1st term ? As well as now when he should be there "leading" on the fiscal cliff talks ???
