Palin, " but I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express"

( — John McCain first met Sarah Palin only six months ago and had just one conversation with the Alaska governor before offering her the vice presidential slot on the Republican ticket, the Arizona senator's campaign said Friday.

The move appears to be a marked departure for McCain — a man known for his tendency to surround himself with a close circle of advisers and politicians he has long felt comfortable with.

But according to the McCain campaign, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee first met Palin in Washington at a February 2008 National Governors Association meeting. He was immediately impressed with the 44-year-old rising GOP star, and decided to consider her for the vice presidential slot.

McCain campaign manager Rick Davis had several conversations with Palin throughout the vetting process, but McCain himself didn't speak with the Alaska governor until last Sunday — one day after Barack Obama named Joe Biden to his ticket. It was then McCain reached Palin by phone while she was at the Alaska State Fair to discuss the possibility of joining the ticket.

Palin then traveled to Flagstaff, Arizona Wednesday evening, where she met with top McCain advisers Steve Schmidt and Mark Salter. On Thursday Palin traveled to McCain's Sedona, Arizona home where the Arizona senator had another conversation with her, and formally asked her to be his running mate.

Geeze...wonder if she stayed in a Holiday Inn Express while in AZ and that's what qualified her for the VP slot!!!

Holy cow....this is dangerous .

I mean....wait till the nude photos of her come to the surface of all this.

***Add this from the Drudge Report****
On his 72nd birthday, McCain chose Palin, a woman younger than two of the Arizonan's seven children and a person who until recently was the mayor of small-town Wasilla, Alaska and has been governor less than two years. He settled on her six months after first meeting the governor and following only one phone call between them last Sunday and a single face-to-face meeting Thursday, according to a timeline provided by his campaign.

Any Obama supporter pointing fingers and hollering "unqualified" has got to be kidding. She's actally been an executive. She has actually done something. What are Obama's qualifications again?

I don't know if she stayed at a Holiday Inn or not, but I doubt she stayed at a Rezko Inn or an Ayers Villa.....

Now someone that has been in the PTA some 20 years ago, is disqualified. You just hate that the Democrats did not have such a woman to run for you!

You guys will not be able to spin this lady except to say she is inexperienced, but then she is more experienced than your PRESIDENTIAL candidate.........

I love it! Palin in 2016, long live McCain!

That's what's really funny about this whole deal. The libs say she doesn't have the experience, but she's not at the top of the ticket. Looks like the Republicans have done things the right way - put their experience at the top of the ticket where it belongs.

As far as Palin in 2016, I could easily see McCain deciding not to seek re-election and having a Palin-Clinton race in 2012. Of course, that would be assuming that McCain wins this one.

Of course, having Clinton in the 2012 race would also assume that the Democrats are RACIST enough to nominate a white candidate next time. If they lose this one, it kinda looks to me like they're gonna be in a helluva bind with race relations - for a long time to come. Because the whole liberal 'principle' of Affirmative Action dictates that blacks continue to be given more and more opportunities even if they're not the most qualified. Just as they've done with Obama.

Well, Kolo, at least there is a thought process originating from some place. I don't understand how liberals could of decided that Obama was the best they could find.

Texan, "Because the whole liberal 'principle' of Affirmative Action dictates that blacks continue to be given more and more opportunities even if they're not the most qualified. Just as they've done with Obama."

That's a heck of a good point, Texan, and you're right, this Obama nomination is just equal opportunity taken to the dangerous extreme.

just like a liberal,.. ignore Obama's lack of experience. yet be willing to hand him the keys to the kingdom...

How does a do nothing paid community organizer experience qualify Obama for the Job?

I'm sure Palins stint on the PTA bake sale fund raiser fed more hungry then Obama did..

It looks like the only thing the liberals can do is rant about Palin's so called, lack of experience.. for the VP slot.. and take cheap shots at her.. but that tactic, only reinforces Obama's short comings.. a lack of experience that made him pick a Washington insider, and long term presidential loser..

Sounds like the only way he'll get the job is with a push from affirmative action..

I couldn't be happier...          I'll bet Hillery is laughing as well,..

Not only would I love to see the answer to that question.
Couldn't Oblahblah's preacher for twenty years be considered a community organizer. Couldn't Ayers be considered a community organizer. Yet you Obot's still defend this quack

It looks like she is being vetted by the Press...From a Dallas News opinion piece:

I need to know more about the mysterious Sarah Palin before passing judgment. But I thought it would be valuable to put her two whole years of experience into context. She's the governor of Alaska -- a state with a population of 670,000. Her entire state has about as many people as Memphis, Tennessee, the country's 17th-largest city.

So, 16 U.S. mayors -- including Dallas' very own Republican, Tom Leppert -- have more constituents than Sarah Palin. Of course, she has her own mayoral pedigree, in Wasilla, Alaska, population 8,500.

This one comment had me chuckling
Colleen, don't diss the experience one gets from the rough and tumble politics of Wasilla, Alaska. McCain backers seem very high on it today.
