Prior to the rodeo they marched out the past queens and introduced them all. Only in 1942 and 1943 did they not have royalty as WW2 canceled it.

The gal on the left was queen in 1937! :D She was quite the lady!

The graceful and beautiful lady with her glasses in her hair is my Mom! Hi Mom! She lurks around here once in awhile! Miss Ute Stampede 1964!
Which is quite the feat as I was born in '63!  NOT! :D

An awesome veteran in a cowboy boot!

They brought a big American flag in via parachute! Who'd want to jump out of a perfectly good airplane? It was kinda cool to see!

Let's RODEO! Cotton Rosser's Flying U was the contractor. A bareback ride that went a ways. It should have as i've seen rougher rocking chairs! :D

Put this one in just for Justin! The bulldoggers either were under 6 seconds or laying on the ground blinking like a horned toad in a hail storm! A lot of steers ducked back and left the dogger with a lot of air.

This ol' kid covered three bare's. First horse went down and they gave him a 68 with an option. Second horse lost the flank strap but he got a 71 and an option. Last ride got him a 78 and second place in the go-round.

The guy in the pink shirt and black string tie is Cotton Rosser. He's 81 and still going strong. He has contracted stock at this rodeo for as long as I remember. Mom said he spoke at thier luncheon for past queens and was a hoot!

My camera battery was weakening so I tried to be chosey. A saddle bronc ride with some daylight under his butt!

As a used-to-be bullrider I still get the itch to ride now and then. But with a family to feed and some age it's better i just watch! Plus there must be a weight limit for the bullriders and I am a tad over it! Keep your mind in the middle pard!

The bull fighters were on the top of thier game. The guy on the right is Louie Jones and he saved me once or twice!

What's a rodeo without a carnival? Mrs. H and Little H took a few laps around the Ferris wheel while me and Littlest H stayed grounded!
DSCF0116-1.jpg

The bunch on the merry-go-round! Littlest H was sitting pretty for the judges! :D
DSCF0122.jpg

Little H took her brother on the "roller coaster worm"! She's a great sister!
DSCF0123.jpg

And one last one of littlest H peeking! Going to a rodeo as a spectater isn't the same as competing, but this rodeo is a tradition we enjoy! Hope ya find your own hindquarters planted at a seat overlooking a rodeo ground soon! :D

It would have been trying to kick the kinks out of that worm when it was his turn that made him tired. Some things are better not on film.

Awesome!!!!! Thanks for sharing..... Your mom I'll bet made a very pretty Queen.... I have to add my own little story, Last year helping a friend run for a queen contest they reconized some extremely telanted real cowgirls. One older gal was riding a great big black horse and the rest of the older gals were in a chuckwagon. but when they left the arena after the recognition, the gal on the horse made an extra lap....... It was soo cool.. I hope I am able to crawl on a horse at that age.......
I always wanted to bulldog once..... But to old now........ Should of started my bucket list earlier!!!

I've know Cotton for years - Worked part time for him in the 60's

To this day he know my name.
V_Key had an Cow Palace Arena Pass when she was 15 years old (for Pictures) - Cotton had a fit and tried to have her kicked-out _ I told him - "You know me - Cotton - and if she's in any Danger I'll Throw Her Over The Fence _ then it my A$$ trying to get out" _ At the END of the 11 day show he rode-up to her and said _ "You can work in my Arena anytime little Lady"...

Another Cotton story
I had 17 full-time stalls at the Fair Grounds _ Firemen's Rodeo _ and had a BBQ after the Show _ It was Hot and SOME HOW the Alley in front got flooded and Became a Big Slip N Slide. Cotton came riding by and L.E. Louis, Roddy's and more pulled him off his Horse and Muddied him up a Little _ Quite a Litttle

I had made some Good BBQ Sauce and EVERYONE was Drinking it...!
