Part 1 coming home

Bringing the main herd home early because there is an abundance of feed on the farm this year. The native grass will be a valuable asset left standing to catch snow and create litter for next years crop.

Getting started.

Bright sunshiny day. I hope today (this was yesterday) will be as nice.

Don't you realize that it is impossible to handle cattle calmly without a horse? :D

Hope you have a good day and get those poor starving cows home to some feed.

You have enough grass left to hold a lot of moisture, next year will have a good start.

"Don't you realize that it is impossible to handle cattle calmly without a horse?"

I didn't get the Memo.

I really like the cab and heater and truth be known the cows have things figured out. We are more about providing some guidelines and structure for them.

BMR, only Ranchers use postcards with cows on them. The market is pretty small. This morning is foggy and hoar frosty. Should be good for some more photos. I am sure there is a sun shining above you. Have to get rid of the clouds to enjoy it though.

Beware the frosty hoars on your endeavors today.

Yeah, you'd think it would be faster to just chase them over to where you want them!!

Great pictures Per. I love how they're all strung out. Would have loved to been there to get pictures myself :)

We would have loved to have you. I got there this morning and the trucks were waiting. My wife and Dad got there ahead of me and had the round up under control. They were just in a 1/4 section. Turns out I am redundant  so am free to tour around and take pictures.

That's why I like having cows instead of yearlings! Once the cows know there're way around the place they can be quite easy to move as you probably know. Nice pictures!

Great shots, good job!

How far did you trail them?

Started the assembly about 2 miles from the corral so it wasn't too far although the cows could have walked all day like that. It would have been another mile to our old corrals through some more bush down a large escarpment and along the river. That would have been fun. Small things amuse a ranchers mind. :? I kind of wish I had been flying to get a picture of them all at once.
