Pearl Harbor

Well-known member
Got this from a friend in the USAF, had to share.

RECEIVED THESE PHOTOS FROM AN OLD SHIPMATE ON THE USS QUAPAW
ATF-11O. INTERESTING AS I'VE NEVER SEEN THEM ANYWHERE ELSE.
I THINK THEY'RE SPECTACULAR.

Pearl Harbor
On Sunday, December 7th, 1941 the Japanese launched a surprise attack
against the U.S. Forces stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. By
planning his attack on a Sunday, the Japanese commander Admiral
Nagumo, hoped to catch the entire fleet in port. As luck would have
it, the Aircraft Carriers and one of the Battleships were not in port.
(The USS Enterprise was returning from Wake Island, where it had just
delivered some aircraft. The USS Lexington was ferrying aircraft to
Midway, and the USS Saratoga and USS Colorado were undergoing repairs
in the United States.)

In spite of the latest intelligence reports about the missing
aircraft carriers (his most important targets), Admiral Nagumo decided
to continue the attack with his force of six carriers and 423
aircraft. At a range of 230 miles north of Oahu, he launched the first
wave of a two-wave attack. Beginning at 0600 hours his first wave
consisted of 183 fighters and torpedo bombers which struck at the
fleet in Pearl Harbor and the airfields in Hickam, Kaneohe and Ewa.
The second strike, launched at 0715 hours, consisted of 167 aircraft,
which again struck at the same targets.

At 0753 hours the first wave consisting of 40 Nakajima B5N2 "Kate"
torpedo bombers, 51 Aichi D3A1 "Val" dive bombers, 50 high altitude
bombers and 43 Zeros struck airfields and Pearl Harbor. Within the
next hour, the second wave arrived and continued the attack. When it
was over, the U.S. losses were:

These were twits (Germany included) were all opposed to freedom and tried to inflict their will on every one else. Are we going to let the little twit in Iran do the same? The death toll on 9-11 was nearly the same as Dec 7th. Why are we not as determined to rid the world of the terrorists as we were in WWII?

When people are willing to give up their freedom in the name of peace they shall have neither.

You're surely not this stupid? The United States was attacked and we declared war on Japan. Germany then declared war on us. It's in the history books. Iran has not attacked anyone; they're not trying to attack any of their neighbors. They claim they want nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. President Bush has even acknowledged their right to nuclear energy! The current president of Iran was elected by the citizens of Iran. He beat out a more moderate candidate, mostly because of the US invasion of Iraq!

The UN offered Iran free electricity if they would drop their nuke program. Iran refused.
Hamas was also elected. Hitler was also elected.
Iran has publically said that they want to wipe Israel off the map.

All true. What's your point?

Yes, Bush's plan for democracy in the Middle East has pretty much blown up in his face. When the Saudis had some elections, the militant extremists won a surprising number of seats. They won't be having more elections anytime soon. There's growing concern about civil war between Hamas and the former government. The Iraqis voted and they have a civil war.

First off if you study the history of that region they have been fighting over there since dinasours walked the earth. This isnt going to change anytime soon. Secondly About a civil war. Good for them. I hope they kill one another.

There is no civil war that I know of. Basically you have war lords or would be war lords and alquadi over there trying to stir up trouble.

It matters because George W. Bush has claimed the war in Iraq would lead to more democracy (elections) in the Middle East. Instead:

"Saudi Arabia's limited 10-week experiment with electoral democracy ended here Saturday in a sweeping victory for slates of Islamic activists marketed as the "Golden List," who used grass-roots organizing, digital technology and endorsements from popular religious leaders to defeat their liberal and tribal rivals, even here in Jiddah, for decades Saudi Arabia's most diverse and business-driven city." They weren't killing each other in open warfare before the election, before a terrorist organization was legally elected.

Secondly About a civil war. Good for them. I hope they kill one another.

It so good to see Christian values in action. You makes the Islamic militants look mainstream.

There is civil war. There has been for months. Yes, the people in charge deny it, but Sunnis are killing more Shiites than Americans; Shiites are killing more Sunnis than Americans. That's a civil war. People are being forced to leave their homes in "mixed" neigborhoods and are moving to areas where they feel safe with their own tribes. That's a civil war.

First off I mainly go to church just to piss off liberals.
Secondly Since it seems most of them over there hate anybody who is non muslim and want to kill us all, well why would I care if they want to kill each other off first? Im not going to lose any sleep about it. Its about the same thing as a bunch of gang bangers shooting it out with one another only better.
Thirdly about the Israel region. You know better than that

I wouldn't lose any sleep either except for the fact that Americans are dying, billions$$ that could be better spent are being wasted, and the respect of the world is being squandered in this dead end war. And Bush won't give us any guidelines for getting out! He tells the Iraqi Prime Minister that we're there as long as they need us on one hand; on the other he says they have to get control of their own country! Does that make any sense? Not to me; much less to a non-English speaker.

You've GOT to be the dumbest twit ever to grace these boards.

If you tell the terrorists when you are leaving, they will just quit their terrorists ways temporarily and organize better to completely destroy the country as soon as we walk out the door.

You don't tell the enemy your timeline dummy!

Besides we may never leave. We'll need a base to work out of when IRAN nukes Israel like they said a few weeks back.

No, the only time it makes sense is when it makes sense. I didn't cry and moan about how Saddam treated the Iraqi people. That was George W. Bush. Or at least after there were no WMDs, he used that excuse for invading Iraq. I'm not especially interested in spreading democracy around the world. That's George W. Bush and he's spending billions$$ inflicting it on the Iraqi people. He doesn't seem to care that 40,000 of them are dead during his three years of "help".
