Perry lookin' plum Presidential!!!!

An aide to Rick Perry is confident that the Texas Governor proved he “has what it takes to be President” with his decision on Monday to send troops somewhere for no reason.

By deploying a thousand National Guardsmen to the U.S.-Mexico border, Perry has shown that as President he would be “ready and willing” to use troops without a defined objective, mission, or exit strategy, the aide confirmed.

“Sending troops someplace with no clear idea of why they are going or what they are supposed to be doing once they get there is a key part of the Presidential skill set,” said the aide, Harland Dorrinson. “Rick Perry has just shown that he’s got that nailed down.”

Dorrinson acknowledged that the gold standard for using troops for no reason might have been set by Perry’s predecessor in Texas, George W. Bush, but added, “If anyone can beat that record, it’s Rick.”

According to the aide, Perry’s “extremely Presidential response” to the immigration crisis is already winning him the praise of G.O.P. voters. “Nothing unites Republicans more than standing up to children,” he said.

No matter how you twist it, doing something is far better than doing nothing.

Do the math. 12 million a month versus the billions the potus wants to spend. We could do this for 20 years and come out much less on expenses.

Afterall, Chicago is a long ways from the border in the first place.

Say---here's another worth reposting---please post it everywhere and often----documentation of bush's cowardice and Vietnam dodging--Enjoy!!

May 27, 1968: 12 days before his student deferment expires, George W. Bush applies to join the Texas National Guard. Despite a waiting list of 18 months, Bush is signed in the same day. Bush is assigned to a celebrity sons unit, with sons of two other senators (Bentsen and Towers), sons of oil magnates, and 7 sons of Dallas Cowboys players. He was assigned to pilot duty despite a 25% score (lowest possible for duty), and was commissioned to 2nd Lt. despite lack of qualifications or passage through Officer Candidate School. Is trained to fly an F-102, which is being phased out, guaranteed to never be called into duty in Vietnam.
April 1972: Military institutes drug tests in routine exams, including urinalysis, questions about drugs and "a close examination of the nasal cavities" (for cocaine). Bush is due for this exam by August 1972.
May 1972 to May 1973: Bush leaves NG for Alabama without transfer orders; later requests transfer, which is granted then cancelled; he then applies for transfer to Alabama 187th Tactical Recon group, and is approved--but never shows up.
December 1972: Bush returns to Houston for duty. But in May 1973, Bush's supervising pilots wrote in his annual efficiency report: "Lt. Bush has not been observed at this unit during the period of the report" (i.e. through April 30, 1972). Later that month, two special orders commanded Bush to appear for active duty. He served 36 days of active duty during May, June and July before leaving the Guard early. Bush's official discharge date was October 1, 1973, but his last day in uniform was July 31, 10 months earlier

That's some big news there LJ....it'll probably ruin Bush's chance of getting elected.

How much of your life did you waste looking that stuff up?

Where are your sources for this? And why are you so worried about Bush?
He hasn't been President since 2008. And BTW, I miss Bush!

In case you haven't noticed.......ask any military person who they respect the most. Bush or Obama. Hint: It AIN'T Obama.

Dan Rather ruined his career lying about W's National Guard service on live TV.

For whatever reason, Poco Jose has an erection for W.

Too bad he doesn't have the same hatred & vitriol concerning the current Usurper in Chief. W's citizenship was never in question, nor was his college transcripts, SSN, or work history. Can't say that about #44.

Joe....all that really matter about GW is that he received an honorable discharge. End of story. Now if you really want to know about someone that was running like a scalded dawg from the draft he you go.

That Bill Clinton went to great lengths to avoid the Vietnam-era draft, that he used political connections to obtain special favors, and that he made promises and commitments which he later failed to honor, are all beyond dispute. However, the timeline quoted above jumps the tracks when it labels Clinton a "felon," because none of his actions, no matter how unethical or morally questionable they might have been, were illegal. When Clinton agreed in July of 1969 to enter the advanced ROTC program at the University of Arkansas, his draft board rescinded his induction notice and reclassified him with a reservist's deferment. That he later changed his mind in October 1969 and opted to forego the ROTC program and be reclassified 1-A did not constitute a "failure to report" or make him "AWOL." At the time of his 1-A re-classification in October 1969 the previous induction notice was no longer in effect, and he was not subsequently re-drafted.

If Clinton had still been obligated to report for induction, his draft board could have got him any time they wanted: they certainly knew where to find him, yet no one ordered him to report to an induction center, no federal agents arrested him for draft evasion, and no MPs came and hauled him away for being AWOL, because he hadn't broken any laws, civil or military. Likewise, President Carter's executive order of 21 January 1977, which provided pardons and amnesty for those convicted or suspected of violating the Military Selective Service Act between 1964 and 1973 did not apply to Clinton because he committed no such violation.

Although what he did may not have been against the law, Clinton's broken promises and contradictory statements about his efforts to avoid the draft were prime examples of the kind of self-serving doublespeak that later earned him the sobriquet "Slick Willie." As Maraniss concluded in his Clinton biography, First in His Class:

"It was just a fluke," Clinton would say decades later, when first asked how he had made it through this period without serving in the military. But of course it was not a fluke. A fluke is a wholly accidental stroke of good luck. What happened to Clinton during that fateful year did not happen by accident. He fretted and planned every move, he got help from others when needed, he resorted to some deception or manipulation when necessary, and he was ultimately lucky.

we now have an all volunteer military "because of how our leaders felt about vietnam".. even clinton knew what sacrifice was required.. so he avoided making that sacrifice..

but they all worked to make the military a voluntary service because they understood the sacrifice the service demanded. that is the only point that really matters now.. concerning PAST leaders..

problem now is we have a numb-nuts who isn't a leader.. and can't comprehend military service.. let alone the sacrifice required.

If obama wants to start to understand the military he would take a private walk through Arlington and one of the military hospitals instead of playing gulf..

those places and others like them would humble a man and guide a decision.

Nope---it ain't no way no how "all that matters"

We're still cleaning up bush's mess. But---I ain't sticking up for Clinton or anybody since. Cheney--Clinton---rumsfield, etal---they're all cowards, war dodgers (for themselves) and arrogant incompetants. (which it don't look like I can even spell---but I volunteered, I went and I served. I can respect a concientous objector, I can respect a protestor. I got no use for a liar or a hypocrite or a coward that will hide then send somebody else's kid.

Don't war protester vote for war? They did when they voted for obama.

How about you show you are not a coward, or liar, and show up at my door again and talk to my "little lady"

I'll even give you the address, when you call me, the next time you are in Calgary.

Here's a hint: You have already proven yourself as a liar, when you lied about showing up the first time...and you should have waited around, I was home only 5 minutes later. Why run away like a scared dog...you coward?

Were you afraid I wouldn't think that you were everything you think you are?

You're in Calgary (or Alberta) all the time, supposedly, so let me know, then give me a call...lest you be called a coward.

Maybe he is watching the house, so he can sneak in while I'm away, like last time, and have his way with her...the stud that he is.
