Personal attack ads

Who would have thought they would resort to attack ads and not disucuss policy

A recent study by the Wesleyan Media Project actually quantifies this. They looked at 900,000 airing of political ads this year and concluded: “Democrats are using personal attacks at much higher rates than Republicans and a much higher rate than Democrats in 2008.”

Why do the lefties try to claim a negative ad when someone points out the lefties are a obama, reid and pelosi clone.

On second thought I guess that would be a negative to be a reid, pelos,i and obama clone

in a Positive ad it is difficult to get a point across, as the issues are complicated... and often do not fit a 60 second soundbite..

they also only speak to those who already support your views and issues... and are a waste of time and money.. a well run website is better and more effective..

while I find some negative ads repulsive.. (lies) and outright distortions,

when a politician honestly calls out an opponent for his/her actions, it is beneficial for all in the process.. it lets those who support the person know what they are supporting and shows the character of both sides..

Some consider pointing out the truth of the opponents voting record as an attack but maybe the opponent should have thought about what the majority of voters were going to think BEFORE casting the vote so he/she could defend it. A candidate would not use a voting record if they thought the majority agreed with the person on the vote he/she cast, that would not make sense.

What I see as a true attack ad is something that takes a innocent comment totally out of context and making it sound as if the person said something that they did NOT. Kind of like when a Republican says they want to reform SS and the Democrap releases an ad saying his/her opponent want to kill SS. REFORM DOESN"T MEAN KILL. I also see attack ads as out and out lies like somebody is a witch when the truth is she dated somebody that dabbled in it when she was a TEENAGER

You will see upticks in attack ads when the candidates have nothing positive in their record they can run on and they do not want to defend their records. That is why the Dems are in a steep up swing in attack ads in this election.
