These are some photos of Stanley park. It's about 20 minutes from where I live but you can see the damage done. We were really luck had a few trees come down but the neighbors were really hit. Kinda sad to see such a beautiful park in that shape. We got hit again last night and the sink holes around here are nuts!~

yup, it was really moving. Averaged about 50 mile an hour but we had some fun little gusts, in between the average speeds  The horses still have hair so it couldnt have been that bad :)

Angus Guy, see the long term forcast recently.. Know you are a bit south of me but looks like 7-10 days from now winter might actually start with, gasp, highs in the teens... Haven't had a high temperature at normal or below for 4 weeks they are saying... And the road commisionar wonders why there is mud on my road next to the pasture gates...

Jersey,
That kind of wind will blow ALL yer clothing off and leave you standing buck nekkid squashed up against the side of a building will no chance to escape. Can't wait till the police and firemen come along to save me :) Poor Judith will probably end up being sandwiched between two of these public servants :)

It will make me sad :frowns:  WOOOOHOOOO

I've heard that it is coming. It will be great to get some frost in the ground, but man is it going to be rough with all of the ruts.

Somehow this story comes to mind:

This ol' boy was at an auction where he bought four ducks, a pig, an anvil, and a wash tub. After paying for them, he started to his car with the wash tub over his head, the pig under his arm, two ducks with legs between his fingers on each hand and carrying the anvil. Arriving at the car, the door was locked but he saw a high-heeled lady walking by so he asked her to reach in his front pocket and get the keys to unlock the door. She said, "No, I don't want to get raped." The feller said, "Now how could I rape you holding all this stuff?" She said, "Well, you could put the pig under the tub and set the anvil on top of it, and I could hold two of the ducks." :) :)

Judith I grew up with that kind of wind. Not necessarily in the winter time, but in the panhandle of Texas that wind blows 70 to 80 mph on a daily basis, from February till June. Along with it is blowin sand.......it'll dern sure sand blast yer legs.....sometimes you can't get the car door open to get out, can't the the door to the buildin your goin in open to get in......Brings to mind a day I had to walk to school. Mama sent an umbrella with me cuz they weren't gonna be home to get me from school and she was afraid it'd be rainin when I got out. Well it was........and I tried to use the umbrella...I really did. I think I was in second grade....well on my way home.....several times with that wind blowin like it was.......that umbrella lifted me off the ground. Finally skeered that I'd blow away, I just let the umbrella go and ran on home. Boy did I get chewed out good n proper for turnin the umbrella loose......to just blow away. I tried to explain to mama why I'd done it....but it didnt do much good, she was still mad at me for loosin the umbrella. I told her, "I AM NOT Mary Poppins"

So you must not hang any wash out Feb to June, right? I can't imagine those winds!

LOL if you are brave enuff to hang out the wash you better be ready to start at the other end takin it down when you get the last of it hung up.....cuz it's dry.

Then there's always the off chance that you've hung wash out on the line, and it decides to rain while the wind and sand is blowin.....that's when it rains mud.....and you hafta start all over again with the wash.

Isn't it sad to see all those magnificent old trees gone with the wind? I know some say it is part of the cycle, but what a loss :x
