It was a busy day being slowed down by drizzle and snow and photo fabrication. It started off by a visit to my hfs. Yes there are a few strs in there too.

I was unrolling their first mechanically fed bale of the year since weaning.

It was more of a distraction so we could topdress the rye that will keep me from having to feed any more bales. There is still swathgrazing in this field but the rye needs to come soon.

A little glimpse of my calving barn. If the temp goes down there are roll down tarps on the front and a radiant heater. Funny thing, since moving calving to April I haven't had to use these tricks. The heater might just find a different home in the shop.

A break in the action so a road trip for an hour to the starting line.

Good thing these girls don't need me. This little one was no where to be found when I left. :)

Nice. Nice. And NICE.
Maybe the the weather could be better, but looks like you've
got a handle on just about everything. Nice cattle, per.

I've been hearing about these Red Angus heifers bringing a premium. I think I just saw a darn good reason why. If those aren't Red based cows I apoligize, but they look fit for the job no matter what.
When I was a kid my dad put a Shorthorn bull on some baldy cows,(the second lap from Herefords), and Holy Smoke did that ever grow some calves. I'm just guessing where the white faces came from.

Thanks for posting the pictures, I enjoyed them. That third one from the last with both the cow and the calf looking at the camera really appeals to me.

Thanks Haytrucker, these are mostly Angus by percentage with Fleckvieh Simmental, Shorthorn and Hereford in there somewhere.
