most of the patrols are done at night with night vision and laser sights since the terrorists are not as well equiped. He said that at night after the sun goes down it is cold.

What happens when the patrol truck runs over a small IED. This was just a small one, still nocked the gunner off of the turret

A pickup that was hauling IED makings. They did not know for sure if it was booby trapped so they blew the whole thing up, it was a trap.

This sign must have been a sight for sore eyes since it was on his camera. He is back in Hawaii now, being transferred to a different unit in Virginia for some more training

sw:

Thank you for sharing. Thank you "sw's man" for protecting our country and our freedom's, while putting your life in harms way.

Will sw's man be going back to Iraq after his transfer?

My thoughts and prayers for the safety of all of our forces. A guard unit from here just left today.

Cheers---

TTB

2/3 is not supposed to go back to Iraq for another 9 months. They were in the middle of the worst of the worst so they are getting a longer time between deployments. He said that he will not have to go back over there until then. He never wanted us to know where he was since they were in the bad stuff, didn't want us to worry about him. I think it is safer over there than it is here, got a call yesterday, one of our soldiers just back from his second deployment to Iraq was killed in a motorcycle wreck while home on leave. Funerals are not my cup of tea, especially when it is a kid that grew up with mine, was in 4-H with us.

Thoughts of thankfulness are going your way. I'm sorry to hear of the young man that was killed. Thank your marine for us. My 60 plus year old Brother in law was just amazed when someone came up to him Memorial Day and thanked him for his previous service in the Marines. A Thankyou can mean the world to our service men and women in and out of active service.

Thanks for posting the pictures, sw. It sure doesn't look like very good cattle country over there. At least the mortars and artillery rounds aren't tearing up good productive ground. We thank your son and soldiers like him for all their hard work and patriotic dedication. Their efforts protect the freedom of the great United States of America.
