PICTURE: 2012 Ukraine parliament seats

There seems to be some civil "debate" on the number of seats Svoboda won in the 2012 election

With some even calling others 'liars", because they will not agree that Svoboda only won 1...

the "picture" is not correct..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_members_of_the_parliament_of_Ukraine,_2007%E2%80%9312

and I will say it again.. just so there is no more confusion..

There is NO Svobda (freedom) political party in the Ukraine..

The party is defunct and has been since 2004
(they have one common member who was in the Svoboda party and moved to the new party. )

you and your picture are WRONG

And I can prove my FACTS

and did I mention? cause i wouldn't want you to not see it.. ..

Steve they are known as Svoboda, and they changed it awhile ago to All-Ukrainian Union "Svoboda", from The Social-National Party of Ukraine

They and most others still refer to them as Svoboda. That's why all their promotional material has Svoboda on it.

I wonder what that says behind Tyagnibok?

But in an interview in the downtown office building that Svoboda shares with an insurance company and a dental clinic named Smile, Mr. Tyagnibok said that fear of his party was misplaced and the accusations of racism and extremism unfounded.

“Svoboda is not an anti-Semitic party,” he said, seated behind a desk, a sport jacket stretched by his barrel-sized chest, his huge hands folded in front of him, speaking slowly and firmly in Ukrainian. “Svoboda is not a xenophobic party. Svoboda is not an anti-Russian party. Svoboda is not an anti-European party. Svoboda is simply and only a pro-Ukrainian party. And that’s it.”

OK,.. I will make this as simple as it can get.

Svobodo means freedom..

it isn't an evil word.

it isn't an evil idea.

so why wouldn't they use it?

but it is NOT their Name..

if you look at their short history you will see at least dozens of defunct parties.. they change parties and alliances often..

I counted 35 in the last decade

is the party ultra national.. and far right.. yes

but that doesn't add up to anything.. it isn't

but how many of it's members are on the left of that scale and how many are on the far right fringe?

you can't say.. everyone the Russian media has named I have shown or proven the accusations are false..

I found one party member from the old party that went to the new party..

one.

you have tossed out one accusation after another with out proof or even due diligence to do a bit of checking on your sources..

the Svodobo party is defunct..

svodobo means Freedom..

the names of the new party are all on the web page I posted..

check them out.. I did

teachers.. musicians.. engineers ,.. people from all facets of life..

but when you looked at them individually one thing was absent.. extremist radicalism..

which is probably why they are garnering so many seats.

they changed.. and moderated their view and got rid of the extremist element. and that was back in 2004 ten years ago.

Of course not, it doesn't match your link to members from 2007-2012, that's for sure.

here Steve, try looking at the 2012 election results

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukrainian_parliamentary_election,_2012

Here they just refer to them as 'Freedom", or Svoboda. How many seats did they win?

The parliamentary elections held in Ukraine on 28 October were won by the Party of Regions (PR), although they obtained far fewer votes than five years ago, and did not win an absolute majority in parliament. The total vote for the opposition parties (United Opposition Batkivshchyna [Fatherland], UDAR [STRIKE] and Svoboda [Freedom]) in the proportional elections was higher than that of the ruling party, which won 30% compared to the opposition’s 49.9% (see Appendix 1)

oh well.. wrong link.. still not as old as the defunct name you keep using..

I am sure you could find the new list

But to illustrate how minor this party was in 2004 before they changed names and ideology to a more moderate tone

Between 2004 and 2010, party membership increased threefold to 15,000

so it was 5000 which is very small percentage of people..

OT probably has more radicals in Montana then that.

as of the last election they took "2,129,246" votes

that alone should tell you something.. either they changed or the country suddenly swung far right extremist..

FACTs show they changed..

so judging the current politician by the old party is not accurate.. to say the least..

the fact is.. the posts and articles you were posting smeared the movement by evoking the pre-2004 party..

that party no longer exists..

and the fact is it isn't their name..

no amount of wrong or lazy translations and reporting changes that..

The Social-National Party of Ukraine changed its name to the All-Ukrainian Union "Svoboda" in February 2004 with the arrival of Oleh Tyahnybok as party leader.[2] Tyahnybok made significant efforts to moderate the party's extremist image.[39] The party not only replaced its name, but also abandoned the "I + N" ("Idea Natsii" ukr. "idea of a nation") Wolfsangel logo (a symbol popular among neo-Nazi groups)[2][27] with a three-fingered hand reminiscent of the 'Tryzub' pro-independence gesture of the late 1980s.

ya I am sure Putin is not real big on 2nd amendment rights either.

oh and you misspelled one of the words..

Guns keep tyrants at bay..

“A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”
― James Madison, The Constitution of the United States of America

“A free people ought...to be armed”
― George Washington

“Disarm the people- that is the best and most effective way to enslave them.”
― James Madison

“I'm all in favor of keeping dangerous weapons out of the hands of fools. Let's start with typewriters.”
― Frank Lloyd Wright

“[The Constitution preserves] the advantage of being armed which Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation (where) the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms.”
― James Madison

praise the lord and pass the ammunition .. and we will all stay FREE

for a bunch of "radicals" they have shown incredible restraint facing down Putin..
