Good evening, all!! had one wild and crazy weekend here in the madison valley!! My first 4th of July off in 12 years and believe me....I enjoyed it!! Got to participate in our parade and then enjoyed the rodeo!! Flint (the 10 year old) got to ride the miniature bulls on the second day, but Riley (who is only 7) could not ride....new rules say you have to be 9!! Yep, he was a little upset!! Thought I'd share a few of the pictures with you!! Hope ya enjoy!!

I'm Kinda Partial to those Green Buckin Chutes, LOL, :) :) :)

Good looking kids. The BBQ Pics were makin my mouth water...I went to two BBQ's Saturday. I din't know we were goin to th second one or I woulda saved room...The biggest mistake people make is having thier BBQ too hot. Burned ribs aren't all that......The second BBQ had a brother from Texas...One look at the ribs and I knew I had found a man that knew BBQ....Nothin caught on fire and it looked good.....I learned a trick new to me....Lime on Ribs. Squeeze the juice onto them. It is good!

Another trick to ribs is pullin that thick membrane,(for lack of a better word)
off of the inside, it helps them be wayyy more tender after they are cooked
if you peel that off before you bbq them.

Great pictures of the kiddo's, looks like all had a great time
celebrating the 4th of July!!!

Awesome pics ranchwife!!!!

I know how it is with little brothers and not being able to do something  They get sooo disappointed. But I'm sure they have to do stuff like that cause somebody sued someone somewhere.

Glad you had a good time. You deserved it!

I think there might be some Fjord's in my future lol. They make great chore teams can really pull for their weight-they were used to pull barges up the fjords in Norway-go figure huh. I'd like a pair so for once I could harness something without having to fling it on their back. They are real sweet tempered horses too.

There was a man around Buffalo, Wyoming that had Fjords. They are nice horses. I wondered if that would be a good breed for IL rancher to start out with.

Well... Someone breeds them about 10 minutes from here.. I don't know anything about them except that they are neat looking.. Good news is I finally talked to my vet and after she was done laughing at me (good naturedly) she got me a name and number of someone I should call who does a lot of training. She also suggested that I go to the weekly meeting (when I am a bit more ready) down at the local college of a cow horse club. i guess it is mostly for things like team roping and penning and rodeo type events but they are a good bunch of folks who might work well as mentor type people for me..

Progressing slowly right now FH... need to take my time.... No need to rush into things.. Oh, but you are right about the expenses, swung in the local western store, tack, boots and stuff... About died when I saw the prices handing on the saddles... Oh well, at least they have a good return policy. (They all weren't terribly expensve. Just the first few I flipped price tags on..)

Sounds as if you are on your way...proceed only as fast as you are
comfortable with. You'll be surprised as you go along, folks will help you
out; loan you stuff, give you some~you won't have to buy EVERYTHING.

Soon as they know your heart is in the right place, you'll undoubtedly
get alot of help.

Good luck and keep us posted. I am rootin' for ya.
