SE Montana hasn't had the rain some of you have had and maybe more than some others. Regardless, the hay and pastures look pretty good.
The hay is less than last year and the grain production is unknown as of yet. The calves are doing well and I took some pictures to share here.

This is a really good 5-year old cow. Her calf was a ways away so I couldn't get a picture of them together. Feel free to critique her if you wish. Personally, I like her a lot.

This is one of my favorite cows. She is a 1993 model and doesn't like her
picture taken. I tried several shots, and my camera is slow (and needs to be replaced badly) and this is the best I got. It is her calf in front.

Another cow.

This is a bull we bought at Lund's B Bar Angus sale 2007 as a yearling.
He is a son of Sitz Alliance I87.
Here he is as a 2 year old, wintered on hay. He looks to be a different type bull than we have been selecting for. I really liked his length as a yearling and he looked to be moderate framed. Now he seems more framy than we are really wanting, but since he is two, time will tell. However, his calves are eye poppers. He was bred to all the 2 year olds last summer, so all the calves from the 3 year olds are out of him.

Oh wow, Photobucket is undergoing MAINTENANCE right now and I cannot finish. It's late, so I will hope to complete this little project tomorrow.

Great looking cattle, FH. They look to be the useful kind besides being very pleasing to the eye. Thanks for the pictures.

Gee I really wanted to see that International scout. :( :p

Great looking cattle and the country looks pretty good as well. :D

Some times those bulls make you second guess yourself cause from a yearling to a two year old they can sure change.

Really nice cows! I look for moderate framed, fleshy cows with good depth and length. Throw in nice bags and a sprinkle of motherin' ability and you've built my perfect cow! If she raises soggy calves every fall put at the head of the line. With bulls i put more stock into the calves they throw and will live with a couple flaws in their physical makeup. (My wife, thankfully, feels the exact way about her choice of husband!!!) We currently have a long two year old bull that is so short his belly drags in the dust. But he throws nice 70 pound calves that grow up quick into beefy linebackers.

Yep cows, calves, and bulls look pretty good....What a little grass can't do...But if we keep getting these 100 degree days with wind- its going to turn brown fast......

Thanks, wd, but that is a steer calf...no way you could have known, and
I appreciate your comment any how.

I've just popped in here for a second and I realize I never finished
my photo project. I can't do it now, but I shall return.

Gotta get that SCOUT picture on here!!! :p
