Ranchers.net

SE Montana hasn't had the rain some of you have had and maybe more than some others. Regardless, the hay and pastures look pretty good.
The hay is less than last year and the grain production is unknown as of yet. The calves are doing well and I took some pictures to share here.

This is a really good 5-year old cow. Her calf was a ways away so I couldn't get a picture of them together. Feel free to critique her if you wish. Personally, I like her a lot.

This is one of my favorite cows. She is a 1993 model and doesn't like her
picture taken. I tried several shots, and my camera is slow (and needs to be replaced badly) and this is the best I got. It is her calf in front.

Another cow.

Moderate bulls at work

This is a bull we bought at Lund's B Bar Angus sale 2007 as a yearling.
He is a son of Sitz Alliance I87.
Here he is as a 2 year old, wintered on hay. He looks to be a different type bull than we have been selecting for. I really liked his length as a yearling and he looked to be moderate framed. Now he seems more framy than we are really wanting, but since he is two, time will tell. However, his calves are eye poppers. He was bred to all the 2 year olds last summer, so all the calves from the 3 year olds are out of him.

Here he is with a 3 year old cow:

Oh wow, Photobucket is undergoing MAINTENANCE right now and I cannot finish. It's late, so I will hope to complete this little project tomorrow.
