My batteries went dead so I didn't get too many, but I wanted to share our branding day with my ranchers.net family. All in all it was a real nice day. Glad it is done for another year!

Not too worried about things

A family that wrestles together stays together.

Learning about cleaning Rocky Mountain Oysters
It's serious business 'ya know! The little girl is a whiz at it, got
her very own knife for Christmas. Dad is helping out the little guy.
They got them all cleaned before we were done!

Thanks for the pictures - - - It seems like if you stick to the basics and work your plan any color can work.

When I had all Angus I always bred the best AI for replacements and ran Charolis bulls for clean-up and the bulk of the breeding. Great smokie calves.

Great branding pictures, Faster Horses. Looks like it was a delightful day in Montana, as it was in Nebraska. Now if just a little rain would fall tonight........... :)

We are okay for now, haymaker, but we could use an inch of rain. Heck, we would take a half an inch and probably be okay.
It is dry on top, been quite awhile now since we had some good rain (got almost a tenth of an inch yesterday, but it didn't last long. Sure made it smell good tho.) We have had some heat that we didn't need. We have also had some wind we didn't need. 'Bout time to get something we DO need.

Looks like you got it all done before the storms started moving in, looked like a good one headed your way awhile ago, we got some maybe .20, looks like most of it is headed towards OT and The Big Muddy.

Awoke about 5 this morning to thunder and pouring rain and she rained and showed us her lightening most of the day...off and on!! made for a track meet in helena a little interesting...had her "postponed" for about a half an hour right after demodriver finished her pole vaulting!! Looked as though the storm was heading east.....heading your way sw, ot, and FH!! Good luck to ya!!

Thanks for your nice comments, everyone. We are lucky that we are 'in' with a bunch that still rope and drag the calves. Not that a calf table doesn't do the job, they do. It's just that we like horses so this is how we do it. I like Soapweeds branding trap because it is getting harder and harder to get wrestlers. We had a great crew, however, and there are some younger kids coming up that will learn how to wrestle.

For lunch we had Roast Beef (I had the grocery store cook it and slice it then I brought it home, heated it in a big electric roaster in its own juice); baked ham, potato salad, a corn dish I make with corn, mozzerlla cheese, onion, spaghetti noodles, butter; rolls, ranch beans, 3 different salads, chocolate cake and some other kind of bars. Oh, can't forget the beer. I think they all got plenty to eat because we had some left over. Wayyy too many salads left over that's for sure. But everyone took some home.

If things work right I will be able to travel after Katie graduates ( in two years) and I intend to fire up the motor home and visit many of the brandings. Debi has agreed to quit at the High School and travel with me for a while.

We spent the month of June in 2003 just traveling the west and it was way to short! We also had two 12 year old girls with us and while that was nice they did take some entertaining.
