Haying is going along. Have a little grass to bale in the morning if it doesn't blow away tonight :?

Half of the second crop alfalfa is cut. This is the part we plant grainhay in where the moles and gophers killed out the alfalfa.

Our hay is light so far, but we had some carryover and have all the calves sold but the bull calves and replacement heifers so won't be feeding as many as last year. We sure aren't complaining as we know how lucky we are.
This is the second crop yet to cut

As most of you know, we train birddogs. This is how we condition them before running on horseback.

Great pictures, Nicky. You folks lead a busy lifestyle. Too bad about poor Mike falling in the drink. I can't swim a lick, and feel shivers just thinking about falling in deep water while wearing my boots and hat. At least the hat floating on top of the water lets people know where you went down.

Your hay looks pretty good next to mine. :?

I saw Wiggin's outfit like that for conditioning dogs last year before i knew they were in the country. Sure had me wondering what that was for. :D

Thanks Nicky, a fine collection of water sports, beef and forage. :D That grass will be packing some pounds on now.

That was a good set of pics. The quad looks to burn very little fuel.
As for Soapweed's comment, when you fall in a lake you head for the bottom and then run uphill as fast as you can go...

Wonderful couple threads of ranching photos! The four wheeler and dogs picture reminds me of when my brother was training his dogs for the Iditarod.
