Hey Nicki;
How'd the Montana trip go; were the bull calves what you were expecting? Not sure if the next question is for you or Mike......what model is the MxCormick & do you like it.....we need to replace a tractor & they look like the best deal going. Have heard some good reports but don't know of any local owners to get the real scoop.

Cowsense - it is a MTX 130, we are real happy with it. Some things he doesn't like as well as a John Deere, but some things are better. They are sure priced more reasonably!!! The dealer here is one of the reasons we bought it so that always helps. Mike will be home tomorrow night late if you want more details on it.

As far as the rotaries go, seems they are like most everything else...you love them or hate them. Talked to a friend who puts up lot's of hay, he had a guy come cut some meadow hay for him with one and said it left lots of little green slugs that wouldn't cure? Good thing is...we have all winter to make up our minds, get this one sold and something else bought. Or like Jody said, get a different header for it.

It has been our observation that rotarys seem to work good in alfalfa, but not grass hay.

Are we right in that observation?

We have a little McCormick tractor just for small things and
we like it fine. Get us a better shot of yours, Nicky, please.
rotory on my meadow grass hay 7-9 acres /hour my sicle swather 4-5 acres /hour and probally left more strips of uncut hay. have heard that in light grass they don't work good but neither dose my sicle

my discbine took the place of two sickle bar machines of the same width, especially in down tangled wet stuff. in grass that is standing it does just as good a job and a little faster. it seems unplugable only down side that iv'e found is extra power requirement
