So THAT'S how you folks up north stay warm? NOT washin coats....n here all this time we been told that snow was snugglin weather.

hubby says a few more layers of dirt and grime on that coat and he'd be able to stay warm in the north pole!!   course....if I were to accidentally toss it in the washer tonight (geeee...musta been folded up in the blankets), it'd be a good reason to snuggle, huh??

my hubby's mustang "Tango"...he got him from the Pryor range....he was born in 1988 and is one hell of a horse...even if the hubby does not agree!!

Howd you-all come by him? Fast Horse and a Loop or BLM

When you get time I'd like ta see a better Picture of him

In the late 50's and 60's we'd Catch Our Own - - The USAF Base in Yuma Dude String was made up of Pony's off the desert floor.

One the better horses I've had I caught when he tried to run me over out by Quartsite - Roman Nose-Big Footed-Hard Headed-All Hart

We caught two doun around China Lake - took them to a "Horse Sale in Modest" - after they sold some Indians stepped in and Claimed the check - but we had the Fun and Stories

OD/NT---will have the hubby answer that question as to how he obtained Tango when he gets in from fixing frozen/busted pipe!! When cowboyup and i met in 1994, he introduced Tango to me as "the ugliest mustang this side of Mexico"...he has a long roman nose and is actually alot bigger than he looks in the pix....he will just about buck anyone off of him who is not myself, the hubby or a child!! you put a small child on his back and he is as meek as a mouse....barely moves and usually needs led around....walks as though he's on egg shells!! :D

I thought he looked big but photos can full you.

I had a horse that came to me by way of a "Horse Trader" who sold me a saddle at my price - through the horse in on the deal -- and thought he "Got the Best of Me"

I and every around here calls/called him "Ol Fooler" - I'd warn people and sold him 4 or 5 times - alway got him back - he ended up as a "Flying U Saddle Bronc,

He would lay in wait for you to relax - Two of us were the only one's that could ride him - and #2 got dump after riding him for a 10 hour day and relaxed to talk to his Mrs.

Thanks for sharing Ranchwife...those are some tremendous pics you have and I really like your boys cow "Denver." You know I'd fit pretty well into your family, being the Broncos fan I am...devout through thick and thin! I also liked the picture of your little guy playing on the straw with the doggies...looks like a great time, and your horse reminds me of a wild horse my folks adopted from the BLM, named Reno. He's a cool horse, but like your's is very picky about who rides and who doesn't. So, he pretty much an ornamental hay burner!

Cheers--

TTB

OD/NT I got Tango and amare and colt from a lady who had adopted to many horses from the blm in Billings. He was gathered out of the Pryor range which actually has some pretty good blood in them. I traded him to my brother for an engine for a 68 chevy truck [I never got it] when we lost the ranch in 91. 2 years later they brought him back to me to break after he bucked my brother off. after I sent him back, my ex sister in law was riding him and every time she got on him she would get him in the ribs with the toe of her boot. after about three months of this he got sick of her and every time she would try to step on him, he would jump and kick her so she sold him to me cheap and i've had him ever since. He is not to bad to ride and I can do anything off of him thogh he hates me roping off of him but i have doctored a lot of stock off of him and he will work the rope.
the down side is he is pretty clumsy last yearsorting pairs he stuck his front feet in a rut and rolled over me and broke some of my ribs. I gave him three days off to recover and when we went back to sort, the first pair out the gate he threw a fit and down he went again. I was so stiff and sore I couldn't kick loose I just watched the ground come up and hit the same ribs again. It made for a long day and even longer calving season as this happened just a week into it and Ranchwife wonders why I want to turn him into glue :!:

By the way Jinglebob If I threw my coat in the washer I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have anything left  the dirt and the grease are the only thing left holding it together and I just hope it makes it to grass also :D Which I hope comes pretty soon but I had to dig a water line up today and we still have a foot of frost. I think I'm going to move to Texas or New Mexico :!:

Boy, Cowboyup, can we relate to broken water pipes  during the winter  used to have to do it by hand, at least now we have access to a skid-steer with a backhoe attachment. We also know how you feel about the cold...you find a place where it's warm we'd love to go partners with ya and have a happy rest of our lives

I also remember the broken rib ordeal, and like you said, you gave the horse a few days off and (not you) and he went and did it again. :!: Maybe use him for the kids and your spouse and don't use him for ranch work?

Yeah Hanta alot of kids could use him if he was coming out of Elmers Glue bottles

He has alot of get up and go and can be quite a handful probably too much for the kids though another year or so I think Flint might be able to ride him. He sure sets a horse nice.
