Please Pray for Caleb

When we got in from feeding this morning, we had a message on the cell phone from Caleb. He was crying, said he wanted us to know that he was ok but that some of his friends had been killed. He called again at lunch time and we were in so got to talk to him. It must've been the same helicopter wreck that Feeder posted. His group had to go in to get the bodies, and to escort the infantry that would guard the helicopter until they could get it out. It was an area that had not been patrolled at all, the insurgents had mined two miles of road and paved over it. They were 5 - 6 times as big of bombs as they normally use, and were buried so deep the mine sensors (not the right terminology) couldn't pick them up. Two of his friends were in the first vehicle, one was in the turret...he was shot out of the turret and the vehicle was exploded. I'm not sure if the third guy was in that vehicle or not. Two were killed instantly and one they thought would make it, got him on the medical helicopter and everything, but he died before they got down. After dealing with all that they had to back again to escort another group of Marines to get the first group out, and to get the helicopter. He told me the numbers of people involved and it was mind boggling. Another guy was also injured but is going to make it.

I feel so bad for him, the one guy he'd been with since basic training. He got married just before they deployed. All three were from the Boise, Idaho area. He said it's all he can think about, which is very understandable but probably doesn't help him to think clearly when he's out there.

I just wanted to let all of you know as I know some you have been writing him. I'm sure he will appreciate all of your prayers and if anyone wants to email him please do. His email is [email protected]
Also pray for all the families involved.

Thanks!

Thanks nicky, for your post.

Our prayers go out to the families and to all the soldiers and
their families everywhere.

What an ordeal for your young man to go through, as well
as all the others.

God Bless them all.

Nicky, I'm so sorry for your pain and Caleb's also. If that was the same chopper incident, that really hits home how everything is so innertwined.

Yep- they're all in my prayers...

Really doesn't sink in until its someone you know...I've watched the names over the last couple years of the instate boys that died--but I guess except for the local boy it was just all names, until tonite...I was sending my State Senator an email and I went to his website- and he has all the pictures of each of them posted--and it made me just sit and look and think for about 15 minutes before I could continue...

Like sw said earlier, these guys LOVE getting mail. Whenever he tells me he's received a letter or box, he always says "it made me so happy".

These are some of the things we don't think about until they happen. If I did, I would be in the rubber room by now. Take it one day at a time.

Nicky, Caleb has been in our prayers since deployment. We will keep him there. It's tough to lose someone you went to boot camp with. THAT is when they become BROTHERS.

Caleb and our other ranchers.net soldiers are continually in my thoughts and prayers.

May God Bless and protect our soldiers. I am forever thankful for their efforts to keep the USA and world safe and free.

God Bless those who are fallen, lest they not be forgotten.

TTB

PS: Nicky...how's your Dad doing?

As an update on dad...he's been staying at my aunt's in the Boise area. Had an ultrasound, and a stress test, goes to the surgeon on tues to hopefully get a surgery date. He's been feeling good since he arrived, thank goodness. He came over here yesterday, will stay til monday afternoon then go back to my aunts. We ate too late yesterday evening (a constant problem for us :? ) and he's getting a cold so he didn't sleep very well last night. But he's feeling better now. We took him on a calf tour which he enjoyed! Will keep you all posted. :)

Thanks again for your prayers for dad and Caleb!
