Plumber Joe

A few points that trouble me:

The media got that little scene between Obama and "Joe" on film and played it on TV, so how does that make it McCain who 'exposed' "Joe"???

The quick and vicious response of the liberals here that want "Joe" punished for deigning to counter Obama's "we will take care of the little people with your taxes" mantra with the 'right' attitude of "Joe" saying he worked for his money, saved to buy a business, and doesn't want his money given to others who haven't made the effort he has.

That the unions, supporting Obama, most likely will see to it that "Joe" and maybe even the business he works for, will be punished one way or another for exposing an Obama intention to redistribute wealth.

And that which is most troubling: That redistribution of wealth will be FROM those who PRODUCE goods or services TO those who TAKE goods and services without producing anything (excepting in too many cases, more babies they can't or won't support!).

Too many posting nastiness about conservatives and the current administration ignore the obvious:

That GWB was handicapped in his original plans for his tenure in office by the tragedy that was 9-11. Playing the political games necessitated by the Democrat controlled Congress to get them and the liberals in the Republican party to allow funds needed by our military to protect our nation and the world, from the very real threat of more and worse attacks by those terrorists didn't leave enough political power in his hands to stop the pork barrel political indulgences by liberals in both parties.

It was McCain who referenced Joe dozens of times in debate.

I don't want Joe punished. I simply want you guys to stop saying Obama dissed him. He didn't. He took time to talk to him, answer his questions face to face, politely and respectfully. McCain used him, just like he used Palin's daughter's pregnancy for his political gain. Only after he had thrown him out as an example did he find out the guy was misrepresenting himself.

That the unions, supporting Obama, most likely will see to it that "Joe" and maybe even the business he works for, will be punished one way or another for exposing an Obama intention to redistribute wealth.

The union is not happy about someone without a license doing work that should be done by a licensed plumber. Joe had signed up for the apprenticeship, but apparently didn't stay with the company that sponsored him. He's now working for an individual company who's only licensed to work in Toledo, not in the county outside city limits. Now if his boss has been doing work outside his licensed area......

And that which is most troubling: That redistribution of wealth will be FROM those who PRODUCE goods or services TO those who TAKE goods and services without producing anything (excepting in too many cases, more babies they can't or won't support!).

Scary, scary. You got this "foreign" colored man saying all those scary things. But it's the white guy in the White House who has bought banks with your taxpayer dollars. Shocking.

You are so dishonest. Republicans controlled the House when GWB was elected and Democrats held a one seat majority in the Senate. Spending bills originate in the House. Those Conservative Republicans running the House, Newt, Hastrett, Delay were responsible for squandering the surplus left by Bill Clinton. Then, of course, you take the Iraqi War and, last but certainly not least, the huge tax break Bush gave his rich pals. Nope, you're never, ever going to be able to blame this financial collarpse on "liberals" or Democrats. It belongs to Conservatives (get government out of business) and Bush's war in Iraq.

Certainly McCain referenced "Joe" in the debate. But, would not have known about it if it hadn't been public knowledge.

I never said Obama "dissed" Joe. Joe inadvertently tripped up Obama's tight control and caused him to state his intent to redistribute the wealth by taking from those who produce and giving to those who do not.

Further, McCain did not "use Palins' daughters pregnancy", but defended the family AFTER the Dem investigation squad used it to trash that family and force Palin out of the race.

News Flash, fff, Joe did NOT mis-represent himself! He stated clearly that he worked for someone else whom he hoped to buy out and expand that business and that he was concerned about excessive taxes eating up his ability to make the expansion.

Re. the lack of a license by Joe, that witch hunt won't fly! The guy is working under the license of his company. Your implication that the company is not legal is sooooo typical of Democrat operative witch hunts!

"Foreign" and "colored" had NO place in my post. Why do you add it????

And the FACT is, this administration believed it had to clean up the mess largely caused by Dem promoted lending rules or watch the financials melt away, not that they WANT to buy failing banks. But you know that....just can't be honest about it, can you?

WHAT SURPLUS? That was Dem smoke and mirrors and designed to leave the mess for Republicans to clean up or get blamed for.

Poor fff, you do not understand and don't want to hear it, but listen up! Tax cuts for "the wealthy" are not to make them richer, but are made by LEADERS who know and understand that that money will be spent to create more jobs. Which real tax cuts have NOT resulted in MORE taxes collected by the IRS, due exactly to my scenario of more jobs?

The war in Iraq was and is all about keeping terrorists from growing stronger and coming after YOUR sorry butt, along with the more innocent people,in this country! Not oil. Not anything else but preventing Iraq from becoming a Muslim terrorist stronghold with an abundance of oil and sea ports, something those terrorists STILL have been prevented from acquiring.

Yes, Obama just lost control right out there in front of everyone. ROTFLMAO!

Further, McCain did not "use Palins' daughters pregnancy", but defended the family AFTER the Dem investigation squad used it to trash that family and force Palin out of the race.

Yes, he did. The campaign put out a press release announcing her pregnancy and blaming Dems for forcing them to make the announcement to prove Trig is Sarah Palin's child.

News Flash, fff, Joe did NOT mis-represent himself! He stated clearly that he worked for someone else whom he hoped to buy out and expand that business and that he was concerned about excessive taxes eating up his ability to make the expansion.

Joe said he was thinking about buying a company that made more than $250,000. IF he was thinking about buying the company he works for, it doesn't make that much money. He misrepresented the facts.

Re. the lack of a license by Joe, that witch hunt won't fly! The guy is working under the license of his company. Your implication that the company is not legal is sooooo typical of Democrat operative witch hunts!

It may fly. The company Joe works for is a two man operation. The owner and Joe. His boss is licensed in the city of Toledo, not the county. If he's doing work outside the city limits, there could be fines involved if someone wants to look into it.

"Foreign" and "colored" had NO place in my post. Why do you add it????

I know exactly who is responsible for this financial meltdown. And who benefited for it. And who will pay for it. And, much to the Republican's dismay, so do most American voters.

WHAT SURPLUS? That was Dem smoke and mirrors and designed to leave the mess for Republicans to clean up or get blamed for.

President Bill Clinton left office in 2001 with a federal budget surplus of $127 billion. President George Bush ran a deficit of $319 billion in 2005. So who deserves more credit for fighting red ink?

Keep spinning.

So what happened? George W. Bush gave tax cuts to the rich 7-8 years ago. What happened to all those jobs you were supposed to create? George HW Bush called it "voodoo economomics" in the Republican primary when he ran against Reagan. He lost and supported Regan's economic plan. Reagan also left us with a huge deficit. It's a crock; designed to justify handouts to the rich, while screaming about handouts to the poor.

The war in Iraq was and is all about keeping terrorists from growing stronger and coming after YOUR sorry butt, along with the more innocent people,in this country! Not oil. Really? That's strange. It does seem to me that the Iraqi invasion was because Saddam had WMDs. Anything else you try to throw out there is spin. Seven years, no WMDs, thousands of Americans dead, as many as a million Iraqis dead, $tillions in debt, and no WMDs. What a shock! Saddam said he didn't have WMDs, the UN inspectors said he didn't have WMDs, some US intel said he didn't have WMDs. They were all right. [/quote]

“Of course, everyone’s talking about Joe the plumber now. John McCain mentioned Joe the plumber last night 21 times. Yeah, experts are already comparing it to the 2004 debate, when President Bush wouldn’t shut up about Larry the Cable Guy. 65 mentions.” -Conan O’Brien

How many of you saw the debate last night from Hofstra out there on Long Island. Anybody see? I wanna tell you, it was a different John McCain, wasn’t it? He was electric. He electrified the crowd. And afterwards, Cloris Leachman tossed him her hotel key.” –David Letterman

Once again we are blessed by the comedy routine of oldtimer quoting other people jokes, whle the biggest joke of all is oldtimer himself.
How is your imaginary round up cooming?? Still making $250-$500 a day
in an economy you claim is broke?
Must be rounding up a lot of cattle to have someone pay you that much, especially with the national average of profit per cow is about $100 each!
Your pay dips into that profit margin pretty deep, ripping off friends and neigbors now?

You had best recheck that. The mega tons of material have now been delivered safely to Canada, and it is now safe to disclose what was recovered there. Hussain had enough material to deliver each and every American their own private little dirty bomb.

The porn industry thrived under Clinton. The illegal aspects of it. It ran unchecked under Clinton and rape films are available. That and other illegal activities were coming to an abrupt halt and then 911 occured.

You talk as tho you know all about Safeguards or Classified information. You don't. If you do have access, you are a bald face liar.

What a crock. The Bush Administration has admitted there were no WMDs. Don't try to pretend now that the invasion of Iraq, millions dead, $trillions of debt, were justified.

Bush admits no WMDs found, defends Iraq invasion
President Bush delivered a 35-minute talk today that defended the administration's campaign against terror in the Mideast and elsewhere.

"Although we have not found stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction, we were right to go into Iraq," he said.

Yep fff- and there are reams of Congressional testimony to back that up- and the fact that Bush altered and censored the intelligence reports he gave to Congress to get their backing- including the total removal of the final sentence "Iraq poses no threat to the security of the United States"...

Hussein’s uranium reaches Canada
July 06, 2008 in print edition A-6

The last major remnant of Saddam Hussein’s nuclear program – a huge stockpile of concentrated natural uranium – reached this Canadian port Saturday, completing a secret U.S. operation that included an airlift from Baghdad and a voyage across two oceans.

The removal of about 550 tons of “yellowcake” – the seed material for high-grade nuclear enrichment – was a significant step toward closing the books on Hussein’s nuclear legacy. It also brought relief to U.S. and Iraqi authorities who had worried that the cache would fall into the hands of insurgents or Shiites hoping to advance Iran’s alleged nuclear ambitions.

What’s left is the final and complicated push to clean up the remaining radioactive debris at the former Tuwaitha nuclear complex, about 12 miles south of Baghdad, using teams that include Iraqis recently trained in the Chernobyl fallout zone in Ukraine.

“Everyone is very happy to have this safely out of Iraq,” said a senior U.S. official who outlined the nearly three-month operation. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the subject.

The Iraqi government sold the yellowcake to a Canadian uranium producer, Cameco Corp.

A Cameco spokesman, Lyle Krahn, said the yellowcake would be processed at facilities in Ontario for use in nuclear power plants.

The deal culminated more than a year of diplomatic and military initiatives, kept hushed in fear of ambushes or attacks once the convoys were underway: first carrying 3,500 barrels by road to Baghdad, then on 37 military flights to the Indian Ocean atoll of Diego Garcia and finally aboard a U.S.-flagged ship for a 8,500-mile trip to Montreal.

Tuwaitha and an adjacent research facility were well known for decades as the centerpiece of Hussein’s nuclear efforts.

"a huge stockpile of concentrated natural uranium" is not WMDs. Would it have been in ten years? Maybe. If Saddam could have stayed in power. If Saddam could have dodged all the checks and balances to stop him from starting up his program again. But that's maybe. The fact that we knew where his research was going on shows we had his "program" well under control. Geroge W. Bush told us Saddam had WMDs and could give them to terrorists to bring to the US and blow us all to hell. That's simply a lie. To pretend the stuff they have brought out is in any way proof of his claim is laughable. Scare and smear. Successful Republican tactics, brought to you for years by Bush and Rove and continued by McCain. Do we need four more years of those?
