A Dallas police officer involved in the shooting of a mentally ill man, that was caught on camera, has been fired.

Surveillance video shows Cardan Spencer was 20 feet away from paranoid schizophrenic Bobby Bennet when he shot him in the stomach.

The police officer and his partner had maintained their story: that they were forced to shoot after the man threatened their safety by lunging at the pair with a knife.

Officer Spencer has now been fired pending a criminal investigation after a neighbor released surveillance video capturing the incident that showed nothing documented in the police report actually happened.

Yeah, well we got you beat big time

Toronto police - outside a city bus - kid inside the city bus - with a knife - cops kill kid that is not not a threat.

I have come to realize the police of today in many, many cases are not the police I was taught to respect.

Watch the video - he pumps three into the kid - the kid goes down - then he pumps another 6 into the kid. No one thought to simply close the bus door and leave the kid alone on the bus. Driver was out and he had the keys - the kid was going no where.

You thought it was getting bad in the US? Getting bad in Canada too.

One thing for sure - the chief of police is not too happy about this being videoed otherwise it would have been called a justifiable shooting

No matter how tough policing is - this and other abuse is becoming far too common

Another one had me swearing in the car as I listened to the radio on the way to work this week.

Three months ago war veteran Greg Matters was shot in the back by police. This came out in the inquest this week. The initial story was he was a danger to the police so they fired in self defence.

Two shots in the back with an M-16 - some threat. He was retreating. It came out during the inquest this week - not what the initial story was at all.

Polish visitor to Canada - tasered multiple times and died - no efforts to revive. Police were found to be lying at the inquest.

It is something that I am yet again seeing more and more of - the list is quite serious and long when you do the actual research on this topic in Canada

When in Canada - be afraid - very afraid of the police.

The very ones who are supposed to "serve & protect" us are nothing but thugs now days. Not all, but enough to send a message.

That first case looks to cold blooded murder. Sure hope the authorities send a message to the masses that this will not be condoned.

Is it more or is it the quick easy camera phone?

in the past it was the officers word.. even if it looked like he was lieing..
and the national news just went on to the next story..

now that word is getting challenged by pictures and video and reported on the internet..

The cop in Toronto has been charged with second degree murder.

when I received training it was more on de-ecsualting a situation then on shooting the person,..

find a way to connect to and talk to the person... and keep calm..

oh how times have changed..
