police shoot nursing home resident.

this almost seems unbelievable..

an old vet doesn't want any medical care.. just to be left alone,.. but a half dozen police officers decide to tazer him and when that doesn't stop the old man with a walker they shoot him with a beanbag from a shotgun...

oh,.. and he was sitting in a chair when they shot him...

it is not as if they don't have enough crime in Illinois to worry about.. but to send a bunch of officers to get an old man at a nursing home is about as stupid as it gets..

"At some point, I'm told there were between five and seven police officers, they went back to the room with a riot shield in hand, entered the door and shot him with a shotgun that contained bean-bag rounds," Grapsas said.

we had a family friend with parkinsons.. in his mid 70s he became irrational.. and stubborn.. once enough that the police had to be called.. two showed up.. he had locked himself in his car.. one talked to him for about an hour, as he sat in his car.. the other relayed advice from a crises center..

when they finally got the him to put down the window,.. they explained to him they were going to hold his arm and tranquilize him.. as the crises center stated,.. even if he still says things just keep repeating the steps you want him to take.. and he will comply..

after a bit he put his arm in a position they could both hold it.. both officers apologized to Ron,.. as the EMT tranquilized him.. he passed away about a week later it was sad. but it happens...

there was no need to tazer and old man with a walker and a couple of canes.. he may have been stubborn.. but dang it he earned that right..

Steve I think you are finally finding out what law enforcement is turning into here in the U.S.

There's always been a few like this but they are gaining in numbers........

Now. The question is..............How do we stop it?

..How do we stop it?

over the years,.. Hollywood has trained the people to not trust a southern sheriff.. elected by the people and held accountable by the people..

and the sheriff's departments knew the people... grew up with them...
and often wouldn't resort to swat style tactic when one got a bit riled up...

but that is Hollywood.. not wanting people to be able to control their own destiny..

when in reality, most of these swat style teams are in cities or metropolitan areas.. areas where the sheriff's departments are relegated to custodial jobs like running the lockup or security at events..

in a police department they are accountable to the goverment.. who is elected but gives the department more authority as changing the mayor or council doesn't change the police chief's contract..

our local police have had a problem since way before I moved here..
they are more union ran the city ran..

without being able to fire the whole department it would be impossible for the citizens to be able to weed it out.. I could name a few of the worse,.. but sifting through the rest would take inside knowledge..

something the people do not have.. so we turn over the council on a regular basis and still nothing gets done.. oh we had one mayor indicted by the prosecutor and the case is still not settled years later.. they won't set a court date for the guy to clear himself and just keep changing the charges to keep him out of office..

his crime,.. he was a police officer in the department and tried to clean it up a bit and give it some oversight..

so what do we do... move to a "rural" area and elect a decent sheriff..

and defend the few decent sheriff's we have left in the liberal states.. such as Delaware..

few realize how important the sheriff is in defending our way of life..

Using oldtimers rational about the tea party all cops are BAD

I doubt most of US fall into that rationale

we all know that any organization has a bad apple or a dark colored sheep...

but for that one bad apple there often is several great Americans who keep it in check... (unless there is a union )
