More than half feel Gov't is a threat to individual freedom? ASTONISHING!

The gov't is the entity designated to PRESERVE individual freedom!!!!!

More than one in three voting American said they are afraid of the federal government, according to a new survey.

Rasmussen Reports shows 37 percent of U.S. voters said they "fear the federal government," while an even larger number - 54 percent -said the federal government is a "threat to individual liberty."

Those sentiments are especially prevalent among men and those older than 40, who are more likely to fear the government than women and younger voters.

"Democrats, as they do in most instances, have a less critical view of the federal government than Republicans and voters not affiliated with either of the major parties," Rasmussen notes.

Most GOP voters - 53 percent - and 43 percent of those who consider themselves independents said they fear the government. Only 18 percent of Democrats agreed.

Twenty-two percent said the government is a protector of individual rights, a drop of about half since 2012, when 45 percent said the government was good for the people.

More bad news...

Two-out-of-three voters said the federal government is just another special interest group that looks after its own interests. What's more, only 19 percent trust the federal government to do the right thing most or nearly all the time, down from 24 percent last year.
