Rasmussen Daily Presidential Tracking Poll - McCain 47%, Obama 46%
Rasmussen Reports ^ | Monday, August 04, 2008 | Rasmussen

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows the race for the White House is tied with Barack Obama and John McCain each attracting 44% of the vote. However, when "leaners" are included, it’s McCain 47% and Obama 46%. This is the first time McCain has enjoyed even a statistically insignificant advantage of any sort since Obama clinched the Democratic nomination on June 3 (see recent daily results). Tracking Polls are released at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time each day.

A week ago today, Obama had a three-percentage point lead and the candidates were even among unaffiliated voters. Today, McCain leads 52% to 37% among unaffiliateds.

McCain is currently viewed favorably by 55% of the nation’s voters, Obama by 51%. That is the lowest rating for Obama since he wrapped up the nomination

I have a theory on polls that I wish I could find some study to prove or disprove. If you look at past polls if a Republican leads in them it seems they end up winning. But if a Democrat leads in them you can not count on them.

Polls in general seem to always favor more Democrats or Liberal type people.

If you look back at Bush and Kerry, polls had Kerry winning and he lost. If you go farther back to elder Bush I believe he was losing in the polls by like 17 points and still won.

I believe if McCain is winning in the polls or even within 10 points in them, he is headed for landslide victory.

It seems that as people become more acquainted with Mr. Obama, more of them are turned off. Heck, he didn't even get a bump from his overseas traveling salvation show. That has got to have them worried. I think people are getting tired of all the granstanding. I think if he tried a little humility instead of all this "we are the ones we've been waiting for" crap, the undecideds might respond more positively towards him.

The debates should be interesting. Obama seems to have a lot of trouble when he's forced to think on his feet without a prepared text. We'll see.

You can bet his handlers will try to coddle him as much as possible with debating. Limited debates and specific formats. They know debates will only hurt him. He has nothing to gain by them.

Interestingly the folks that are playing with real money still have Obama far ahead...

Obama 4/11-- in other words you have to put up $11 to win back $4 if Obama wins...

McCain is listed at 7/4-- put up $4 to win back $7 if McCain wins....

So that means a lot of money is going down on Obama....
-------------------

Gallup today puts Obama ahead by 5%...
