The Democrats are the ones who wanted a report from Patraus, but then some of them were bashing it before it was even given! And they wonder why the approval rating of Congress is an embarrasment?

Have you given any thought to how they would know his report would be that the surge was working? Could it be that they also see the evidence of imporvement? Their success in the election is based on our troops failure. They support the troops (supposedly) but not as much as they support their reelection. I hope this grandstanding backfires on them and the American people realize the soldiers need us to be on their side, especially while at war.

#1 reason is that GW signs his paycheck.

What has Patraus ever done that would lead you to believe he would sell out?

If the Dems were just going to doubt what he had to say, why bother making the man make a report in the first place? I'm no lover of the Repubican party or Bush, but certain Dems., Lantos comes to mind, just showed themselves to be idiots.

the Dems are all over the guy for one simple reason, the surge is working, they know he will say it is working and they want the public to think the Dems were right about it NOT working.

so if you can not change the message, at least you can berate the messenger to where he is less than credible before he delivers!

Clinton 101.

It isn't what the General has done. It is the fact that every General that has not followed the chickenhawk party line has been fired and retired. If Patraus wants to stay in his job and maintain a career, he has to put a positive slant on the war, regardless of the truth of the matter. Otherwise he will end up being a commentator on FAUX Noise or CNN or MSNBC.

You have a very low opinion , like most liberals, of our military if you think a 4 star general will lie just to keep his job. No wonder you democrats hate the military.

I don't think I've ever been as disgusted by liberals and democrats as I am today. This report by General Petraeus should have been viewed as great news by everybody in this country. This is good news, right? What we've been waiting to hear - and wanting to hear, right?

The progress outlined by General Petraeus should be something to celebrate. We should all be celebrating together, shouldn't we? We should all be praising our troops together, shouldn't we? We should all be sending a signal to our fighting men and women how proud of them we are.

But.....no. That's not what's happening. We've got some people who are so anxious for our country and our service people to lose this war that they will do anything to make things look bad. Including impeaching the credibility of a career soldier like General Petraeus. And everybody should be as furious about it as I am.

It hasn't been but a few weeks that these traitors were telling everybody to wait for the report, wait for the report. But...what happens when they get the report? It doesn't fit their agenda, so they resort to the sorriest possible behavior to try to discredit it.

And to top it all off, these dems all like to run their mouths about how much they support the military - how they support the soldiers. But, in reality, they want them to lose - they want our fighting kids to be seen as losers.

I'm ashamed of the whole bunch. That bunch who would rather have bad news than good news. That bunch of sleazy f'ing democrats who would rather us be losers than winners. Just because they think it makes the President look bad. Just for political gain, they want to make the General and our soldiers look like losers.

They want our country to lose, so that they might win an election. Sounds almost unbelievable. And it really psses me off. Sorry bastards.

If that is the rationale of the party, why did they bother demanding the report in the first place?

I am a Democrat who hated talk radio as biased Republican Rhetoric. I've sent my letters to Obama & Clinton offering financial support and votes. After your pre-mature comments about the war being lost and Senator Durbin's statement about General Petraeus report and already discounting a Senior Officer's report ahead of time angers me so that you have done something talk radio could never do. You and the other Senate Democrats have confirmed within my mind that what the Republicans have been spewing as trash is actually TRUE! Democrats, including myself by supporting our party, are VESTED IN DEFEAT!. When it's not there (YOU) claim it's a biased report. Petraeus is an honorable and decent General and you and other Democrats have dishonored him and his service by claiming that he's just a whip to be used by Bush. I personally don't like President Bush but as a Military person he IS our Commander in Chief and although he fails to capture my respect as a person he gets my respect as of his position that the american people put him in. Are you a LOYAL American or a Treasonous person that cares more for politics than our country at war? Our men are fighting not because they may feel it's right to fight but because our commander in Chief says to and I do feel it is necessary to WIN! Your declaration of defeat almost lost my support earlier but Durbin's statement about the Report, before it's given, for fear it will not back the Democratic stance certainly finishes it.

My Vote AND financial support for this upcoming election is going to Fred Thompson or who ever the Republicans put up. I still can't stomach Talk Radio but you and our setting Democratic party have made me sick. I've supported the wrong people all along.

Disgusted lifelong Democrat who is voting Republican for the first time

I wonder how the people will accept the report-- that is what really should count....

Problem is that Patraeus is only seen by many as an extention of the Administration-- and the Administration has lost all credibility with a majority of the population....

Its a risk you run when you are not open and transparent in government- and get caught in deception...

The people of the world having once been deceived, suspect deceit in truth itself.

Why? Every democrat that voted voted for Petraeus. The democrats are an incompetent bunch of morons. They vote for the war then try to say they were lied to (I guess they aren't smart enough to recognize the truth). They then voted for Petreaus but now call him a shoe licker for the President. :???: :???: These are the men you want running your government? Give me a break. They couldn't manage a sitting hen! Or they have a vested intrest in the destruction of the United States Military...again. Like Viet Nam wasn't enough.
Here's the congressional vote on Petreaus.

Why? The President is the Commander in Chief-- he is over the military-- so the people see them as an extension of the President....

And it isn't helping that many in the military- retired and active- are now coming out and saying that we had no plan and ineffective leadership for the first 2 1/2 years of this war-- altho most will agree with the direction now....

Once you lose credibility--be it for honesty or be it for incompetency- its hard to regain.....Credibility is composed of two primary dimensions: trustworthiness and expertise- and this Administration has been damaged badly on both.....

I would agree with you to an extent about the perception but the democrats voted for Petreaus and wouldn't even wait on the report. They were bashing him without even hearing it. That's stupid. They were unprofessional at best and treasonous at worst.

Huh? :???: Are the public not the ones going to elect the officials this next year? I don't follow. I say it's a net negative for the democratic traitors that voted for Petreaus then bashed him before hearing his report. Not very stately. They look like fools.
