Pounding out the squares

Well, guess what folks? We're racing the weather again, and put in a big day. Finished up combining, husband is just finishing up round baling, and he stuck me on the square baler. My outfit was an IHC 806 with no cab and a NH 316 square baler. Lordy, I'm glad no one was around with a camera! It's a little cool here, so I was bundled up in my lined coveralls, winter jacket, touque, and lined gloves. I baled till I broke a shear pin, and then said to hell with it because I was getting a little cold and it was dark. Now when he's done round baling, he's going to pick and stack the squares so he can get all bundled up like I was because now the 806 is on the balepicker. It's going to be a cold, long evening for him. But what do you do when your weather forecast tomorrow is for rain and snow? Keep going, get 'er done!

Sounds like my day tomorrow.. Going to be running a big 20 foot stalk shredding windrwoer with another tractor right behind it pulling a round baler... Don't know how much we are going to get done but we will get as much as possible... I'm nice though, both of our tractors have cabs..... Dusty day.. being that we are racing to get this stuff put up for winter... Rain in the forcast for Monday, I hope it skips us so we can just keep going.... 280 acres in this field and how every much we need out of another 400 acre field... The second field was irrigated so we will get real god stalks out of there..

Shelly----hope today is going better than your yesterday!!! we, too, are rushing to finish up with the wheat and the 3rd cutting of alfalfa!! By "WE", of course, I mean the hubby and a few helpers as I am spending the weekend taking care of broken ankles, car wrecks (those elk really raise havoc on those little Honda's when they meet doing 75 miles an hour), kids with ear infections and the occassional lacerated leg (silly hunters who still do not understand that you gut the animal AWAY from your leg  )

We got drissled out today... Jsut enough moisutre at about 5am to keep us out of the fields... NO sun and no wind means no drying.. Still have another month to get done but I hate delays... Going to rain tomorrow, next time for a chance is going tobe Wed in the fields..

I wrecked my truck in Bozeman the day I found out I was moving back to Illinois (Also found out I needed my Wisdom teeth yanked that day) and also shattered the one that was erupted that day... Fun time... Good times... When I went to the get a quote they had a picture of a car that meet a Bison up near Big Sky on the highway.... 15k of damage on the car or something like that.... I thought my truck that was customized by a t-boning drunk driver was bad at 5k until I saw those pictures..
