Top PR firm for BP tied to White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel

Over at The Next Right, the've pieced together some interesting connections about the White House's ties to British Petroleum, better known as the company currently polluting the Gulf of Mexico. We all know Obama was the biggest recipient of BP's campaign cash in Washington, but it seems BP's ties to the White House run even deeper.

According to The Next Right, PR firm Greenberg Quinlan Rosner "helped BP plan and evaluate its successful re-branding campaign, focusing the company's branding on energy solutions, including the development of solar and other renewable energy sources."

The firm's Stanley Greenberg is married to Rep. Rosa De Lauro, D-Conn. There was something of a flap last year when it was pointed out that White house Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel had been living in the couple's Capitol Hill townhouse and resulting in a lot of questions about whether or not this arrangement violated congressional ethical guidelines.

Further, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee paid Greenberg's firm some $500,000 in 2006 and 2008 while Emanuel was living with Greenberg, and Emanuel was even in charge of the DCCC during the 2006 election cycle.

And I'd be willing to bet that BP has paid Greenberg Quinlan Rosner a lot more than that. I doubt I'm the only one who thinks that BP's relationship with the White House might be a little too close for comfort.

BP bused in 100s of temp workers for Obama visit, state official says

Jefferson Parish Councilman Chris Roberts, whose district encompasses Grand Isle, told Yahoo! News that BP bused in "hundreds" of temporary workers to clean up local beaches. And as soon as the president was en route back to Washington, the workers were clearing out of Grand Isle too, Roberts said.

I have to sit and chuckle about this Hypocrit-- because it fits your name so well... You and some of these socalled "conservatives" are screaming, whining, and moaning for the government to do more on this oil spill--- when all other times you claim government is totally incompetent.... You and some of these socalled "conservatives" are screaming, whining, and moaning for the government to do more on this oil spill and tell BP what to do-- when all other times you claim government should keep its nose out of industry business....And both Obama and the industry says the industry has the top authorities to take care of it... You and some of these socalled "conservatives" are screaming, whining, and moaning for the government to do more on this oil spill-- when all other times you think that government shouldn't spend money on industry problems - and that the industry should pick it up.... "No Bail Outs" for FU's...Industry should be held responsible-- except now its all Obamas fault :???:
BP was runningthe well without a remote control shut-off switch used in two other major oil-producing nations, Brazil and Norway, as a last resort protection againstunderwater spills. The useof such devices is not mandated by U.S. regulators.
You and some of the socalled conservatives are screaming, whining, and moaning because of the failed parts of industry and government- when the rules for these rigs- and the authorization- plus much of the inspection was done by the prior administration and/or their appointees/employees....The current director was given the ax for not improving things fast enough... So are you now telling me-- you want more government control of and Reponsibility put on the Industry..... :???: You then support the nationalization of the oil industry or off shore drilling industy :???: Hypocrit-- besides anarchy- What do you want :???: And tell me which President- in modern history- didn't visit disaster/troubled areas starting with Lincoln in the Civil War- and use them as photo ops...????????

I get a kick out of the last photo, Steve. Is that when he was giving the lesson on "tar balls" and telling the photographers to pick them up. Turns out some of the agencies recommend not picking them up, because they can be toxic.

What should he do? Besides offer all support necessary- Its an industry problem- that has (or should have much better experts on handling it than the governement)... Last I heard from their experts was "we don't know what will work"........

But Blame it all on Obama....(The rules and regs for this rig was set under a previous administration)-- and the Louisiana Governor was a sponsor of increased offshore drilling-- but don't let that bother your bias's....
In 2006, Jindal sponsored the Deep Ocean Energy Resources Act (H.R. 4761), a bill to eliminate the moratorium on offshore oil and gasdrilling over the U.S. outer continental shelf.

So- you are another one that thinks (now) government can do better than industry :???:

So you are another one that thinks (now) government should take total control of another industry FU... :???:

So you are another one that thinks (now) government is to blame for what happened and industry (BP) should walk- while the government/taxpayer does another Bush Bailout :???:

So you are another one that thinks (now) government is to blame for what happened and should be paying the costs of the industry (BP's) FU's :???:

Sounds like you agree with some folks proposals to "Nationalize" the oil/energy industry... :???:

OT, you are confusing industry with disaster.
NO- you are confusing Industry caused disaster with Natural disaster (was Katrina Bush's/Governments/countries fault--unless you believe Pat Robertson and some of the rightwingernut evangelicals) --- and you seem to now want to blame it all on the "current" government...

if Obama wants to go on TV and have photo ops saying he is in charge... then he should expect a bit is criticism

other then that your assumptions are all wrong..
