last night a very close friede and i went to a hockey game 30 minutes from yown. We left in the second intermission because i wasnt feeling good so i let him drive my car home so i could sleep.. I woke up as we were flyin through the ditch. My car is totalled i have a possible fracture on my right arm, i needed stitches on my right elbow and i have a rugburn type thing where my seatbelt was. Russel was not as lucky and wasnt wearing his seatbelt, last time i seen him was when i left im to run nd get help with his blood on my hands. He had to go to saskatoon for surgery but the doctors never said what on or his condition. Please pray for a speedy and full recovery for russel and his family

Count on prayers from here, kiddo. And for you as well.
I hope you have gotten to a doctor to see about that arm.

Don't blame yourself, ACS...and dont' be hard on yourself.
Stuff happens.

I feel partly responsible but i know i couldnt do anything about what happened so i gess i just have to wait it out.

Update on russel: Hs mom called me and he has a cracked sternum and head trauma that caused a brain bleed but the bleed is not bad and it might correct itself. He's a tough kid and he doesnt give up at much, he'll be okay.

sending prays of healing and comfort.
Remember sometimes bad things happen, its up to us how we react to them and that shows what we are made of.

Prayers sent your way, Angus Cattle Shower. Slow up a bit; you are too wild. Just because you are young doesn't make you ten feet tall and bullet-proof.

Head injuries make me cringe; been too close to that at one time with
a family member and it DIDN'T turn out well. You are right, ACS,
Russel NEEDS prayers.

And listen to Soapweed, he's a wise man...

Angus, isn't this at least the 2nd accident you were in, in which some other kid was driving your vehicle? Bad idea, IMO. And if you don't feel well enough to drive, stay home in the first place. I recently gave my kid my old pickup, gave him some rules to follow (explicitly no other kid will ever drive it and noone rides in it without our consent), and let him know if he tears it up, or so much as gets a ticket he will be a school bus rider for a good long time.

Our daughter let someone drive her GMC Jimmy and she wasn't in
the vehicle. The person who borrowed the vehicle SIDESWIPED another vehicle and then is when we found out she did not have a drivers license.

Rules are good and MUST be followed.

It's that OLD AGE creeping up on you, boy!!

ACS, Tibbs had a harrowing experience when he loaned his
pickup to a friend who took the pickup and most of his clothes...
the pickup wound up on fire and so did Tibbs...

i felt okay when i left, just started to get sick at the game. And the other accident I was only along for, it wasnt my vehicle. Russel is considered a family member and Dad was ok with him driving.

I'll be praying for your healing and Russell and his full recovery. Even "slight" concussions can cause later damage (remember Mohammed Ali) so just being "tough" isn't really enough no matter who you are.

One question: don't schools teach that seat belts are important if you don't want to become a flying object?? We don't start the car until all belts are buckled and if somebody won't, they walk.[/u]

yes they taught us that, I just make ti a habit to always put mine on. He made the choice, not me and now I wish I had noticed he wasnt wearing it and told him to put it on..

And I know it can get worse, but if I think negative, my attitude will be negative. Russel is a very good friend fo mine, and my Dad grew up with his step dad. As long as everyone has faith in him, he has God on his side, and he has a strong will and lots of desire. Russel is a tough kid and WILL be okay.

His brain pressure is stable, he needs some skin grafting o his hand. He also has a bruised lung, but two nights ago when his mom left he squeezed her hand and said, "goodnight mom". He is now heavily sedated. His blood alcohol and drug tests all came back negative. I talked to his mom last night and she was crying because he got me hurt and wrecked my car. I jokingly said I have an excuse to get my trans am now, haha. And I told her it was only a car, SGI will pay me for it and that I am okay. I Also told her to be thankful he was ok and that I've had many people tell me how they were always going to wear their seatbelt now. I am going to the school this afternoon to clear up some of the rumors and get my homework for the christmas break.

Thanks everyone, and God bless

Glad to hear the brain pressure is stable- that's good news. And that you could get to school. We'll keep praying.

Glad you walked away from it pretty much intact-hope your buddy pulls through ok. I wrecked a few in my younger days too-some of us were just luckier than others.

Sending prayers for you and your buddy ACS. You're right on...cars are just so much junk, it's what's there carrying inside that matters...kinda like people 'eh. Merry Christmas and hang in there.
